- In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
- I've been an active editor for over 1 year and I've created over 500 articles with 5 DYK to my credit. In addition to that, I'm an Outreach Coordinator of The Wikipedia Library. I've also been involved in an Education Outreach Program and currently, I'm the Secretary of the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria (WUGN).
- Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).

- Igogo festival - featured on 28 July 2015
- Ilorin Sallah stampede - featured on 31 July 2015
- Iwoye-Ketu - featured on 13 August 2015
I intend to promote Nitrogen dioxide poisoning among others to GA status.
- How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?

- If one of your students had an issue with copyright violation how would you resolve it?
- If the added content has not raise a legal issue, I will remove the content immediately on spotted and if its a serious one, I will relay it to our legal team after a dialogue with the concern party (I mean the copyright owner of the work).

I can't disenroll

Hi, I just signed up as an online volonteer for my first time on enwp. I mistakenly pressed "enrollment token" or what ever it is called and I got enrolled. Now I can't disenroll. I go to Special:Disenroll/Queen Mary, University of London/Research Methods (Film) (Spring 2016) and enter a reason and press the button. I get taken to a blank (white) screen. And...nothing. (t) Josve05a (c) 01:28, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Josve05a: - I'm not sure why it didn't work, but I disenrolled you using my volunteer account, which has admin privileges. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 01:56, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you Ian (Wiki Ed). All I got was a blank page. Over and over again. Nothing odd or off in the console, just "navigating to...", but no error messages at all. Odd. (t) Josve05a (c) 01:59, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Pre-production starts for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons tutorial videos
We are excited that pre-production has started for a series of motivational and educational videos that will introduce Wikipedia and some of its sister projects to new contributors.
Over the past several years, many videos have been produced to train new contributors. This series will feature VisualEditor and the new citation tool called Citoid. Additionally, the series will include an introduction to the Wikimedia Commons repository of freely-licensed media.
The video series and associated materials will help students and instructors who participate in the Wikipedia Education Program. The series is also designed to assist the professional staff and volunteers of galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs) with understanding how their content gains exposure on Wikimedia sites, and how to document or upload their content for direct viewing on Wikipedia and its sister projects.
The video content will be available in segments that can be viewed, translated, or updated individually.
There are currently volunteer translators for Arabic, Armenian, Czech, German, Greek, Odia, and Spanish. Additional volunteers with high proficiency translation skills are welcome to sign up on the talk page.
We are currently seeking feedback on the outline for the scripts, as well as suggestions for an attractive name for the series. Please leave any comments on this talk page!
Regards,
Series director and screenwriter
Notes
This series is funded by an individual engagement grant from the Wikimedia Foundation. A big thanks to the community, the IEG Committee, and WMF for their support.

- Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
- I used to be a student in an education programme once, and now I work as a teaching assistant in a class where an education programme is also implemented. Working as a Wikipedia Ambassador would give me a great opportunity to make an impact offline apart from online contributions which I normally do.
- Where are you based, and which educational institution(s) do you plan to work with as a Campus Ambassador?
- I am based in Bangkok, Thailand. I plan to work as a Campus Ambassador at Mahidol University. It is where I study and also where I work as teaching assistant.
- What is your academic and/or professional background?
- I am a fourth year biological science student pursuing a higher degree in anatomy.
- In three sentences or less, summarize your prior experience with Wikimedia projects.
- I have contributed extensively to anatomy articles on the English Wikipedia. I have also organised meetups and an edit-a-thon in Bangkok.

University of Stirling Education Assignments
Hi All - some advice and support would greatly be appreciated. I'm an instructor who has set up assignments for students - "search Wiki Exercise #1 - Screen Time" for more on this. The exercise is the first in a small number of tasks getting the students to engage with editing and markup, collaboration, civility, and so on. The exercises are confined to user talk pages only. The idea is that students will be introoduced to a discrete project on Wikibooks next week, and will be able to get on will tasks there as an educational assessment. I've suggested on the TeaHouse that a compromise to prevent uneccdessary deletions and furtehr problems, that we shift all future work off WP and work exclusively within Wikibooks. Please advise. GregXenon01 (talk) 16:01, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi GregXenon01. Great to see you're teaching with Wikipedia/WikiBooks. I haven't seen many projects taking place on WikiBooks and would be curious to hear how it goes. @FKoudijs (WMF): do you know someone who could provide some feedback/assistance to Greg? --Ryan (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:18, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi GregXenon01. I am not sure what you mean to do on Wikibooks. To be clear, WIkibooks is its own project, with a purpose and scope of its own. It is not a drafting space for Wikipedia. There are best practices for providing learners with drafting spaces on the actual English Wikipedia, using either pages on the User namespace or the Draft namespace, which seem like a better fit. Some more advice on this is here and here. Please clarify your question if you feel I didn't fully understand what you are proposing. FKoudijs (WMF) (talk) 20:20, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

- Hi @FKoudijs (WMF): thanks for responding, it's sorted itself out now. Sorry I had somehow missed your response up until now. We responded quite quickly to a number of suggestions from admins and moved the entire portfolio of exercises away from WP and onto Wikibooks - the result of the smaller exercises can be found on user discussion pages. You can see the results of our Wikibooks project, An Internet of Everything? here wikibooks:An Internet of Everything? which I think you'll agree is quite an impressive piece of work, and some of the students have in the process of completing the book, become formidable editors in their own right (and one would hope that they will take these skills to the service of WP one day!). It's all undergoing evaluation at the moment in an assessment period of the next 2 weeks or so. Best, GregXenon01 (talk) 16:58, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Campus Ambassador application: Feynman100
Feynman100 (talk · contribs)
- Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
- I recently became extremely interested and passionate about contributing to the free knowledge resources of the internet. Along with being passionate about the prospect of providing free knowledge to everybody, I am a student of philosophy who is looking for opportunities to test my research and academic skills and I feel as if becoming a Wikipedia ambassador will be a great step in practicing my skills as an educator as well as contributing something meaningful to my campus.
- Where are you based, and which educational institution(s) do you plan to work with as a Campus Ambassador?
- I am based in Gainesville and will be working with the University of Florida.
- What is your academic and/or professional background?
- I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Masters of Information Systems Management. I have worked in several startup companies particularly focusing in Market Research and analytics. Currently, I work at the on campus Architecture and Engineering Laboratory where I operate 3D printers, Laser cutters, CNC mills, as well as assist students in preparing their 3D design files for optimum output in a number of our fabrication technologies.
- In three sentences or less, summarize your prior experience with Wikimedia projects.
- I am currently waiting for a draft of an article that I created on the term 'Radical pluralism' to be reviewed. Besides my article on radical pluralism, I have been using Wikipedia for years and a huge advocate of its use in academia and self studies.
- What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
- A skill that I look up in my greatest idols is the ability to take complex subjects and being able to interpret and explain them in a way which is easily understood. I know that being a Wikipedia Ambassador will allow me the opportunity to practice this skill and allow me to use this ability in a way that educates others and provides an even further means of educating the entire world. I love the prospect of contributing to Wikipedia, as I believe it is an extremely pure and direct form of contributing knowledge to the world. A central concept that I operate on is building upon criticism and self regulation, which aligns with the central theme of Wikipedia which is allowing for criticism in order to create something that is true and reliable. Along with this, I have created good connections with the faculty and staff of the philosophy department on campus and I enjoy interacting with and working with these and other educators. I feel as if making Wikipedia even more relevant on campus and in the classroom will make my University a more cohesive space for learning and research, as well as give Wikipedia even more credibility on campus.

Workshop
(I've been going around with this question for a while now - without definitive answers, I've been asked to write to functionaries-en@lists.wikimedia.org which I've done just now, so no answers from there yet)
I plan to do a outreach workshop to introduce Wikipedia to journalism students, during which 10 participants who will registered users (I've asked them to create accounts before the workshop) are likely to edit from that IP address which is a dynamic one, I have done similar workshops at other places, and am aware that permission can be sought so that the said address may not be blocked, for the duration of the workshop, however this part was done by someone else, I wonder how to go about it? Yogesh Khandke (talk) 02:47, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Yogesh Khandke. There's no way to stop an IP addressed from being blocked in the future (technically or via a policy). If you know the IP address (or the range is is allocated from), I can tell you if it is blocked. An admin would be able to unblock the address (or allow registered accounts to use it) if that is the case. If they are editing on accounts they've registered beforehand there are a subset of blocks which could impact them. If that's the case you can ask at the admins' noticeboard for help. That's a more active noticeboard and most editors who respond will have the tools to fix the problem immediately. I hope this helps. Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:42, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
-
- Adam (Wiki Ed) Thanks, you're right, I believe there will be problems only if there are multiple registrations during the workshop, not otherwise, I'll do a reconnaissance before the workshop to check if there are extant ip blocks, also what do you mean by "if they are editing on accounts they've registered beforehand there are a subset of blocks which could impact them. " Yogesh Khandke (talk) 04:54, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- See WP:HARDBLOCK. The majority of blocks on IP addresses will allow registered editors to work while blocking anonymous or new editors. If your IP address is blocked like that, you won't be impacted. For cases where admins need to stop people who act by registering scokpuppet accounts, they may block all editing, anonymous or logged in. Those are rarer, but they would impact your workshop. appropriate for me to request course rights?
Hello, I'm the coordinator of Wikipedia initiatives for the Harold B. Lee library at BYU. As part of my position I'm trying to encourage instructors to use Wikipedia in their assignments. I found the helpful Wikiedu site. Would it be appropriate for me to have some kind of course rights so I could set up course pages for professors/instructors? Or is there a policy that instructors themselves should do this? I would still like to go through the process of making a course myself so that I can tell others how to do it. Thank you. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 20:41, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Rachel Helps (BYU) - I'd love to talk with you more about your ideas and any instructors you want to support in a Wikipedia project!
