NPOV Tiago do Vale
Hello Elekhh:
I wonder if you could give some guidelines on what should be fixed so that the article conforms better to the NPOV guidelines. I personally had a few doubts about the "emergent" bit, though that's how he was described on ArchDaily and, of course, the Design Philosophy section, which isn't that factual, though that's part of many architects' articles. I made an effort to base every statement on reliable third-party sources.
JamesCoulee (talk) 12:01, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi James, I appreciate that you put a lot of effort in assuring verifiability and that is very hard to write NPOV articles on architects given that so much of architecture media is promotional. Overall the article has lots of citation overkill that seems to try to inflate importance by citing likely mirror and parrot pages. The 'design philosophy' section seems to be based on own statements, rather than critical review. The awards section is excessively inclusive, listing many non-awards (such as shortlisting). The exhibitions list seems also inflated by including every event in which he participated, rather than important exhibitions in which the subject had a key role - given that this is an encyclopaedia. Also, the lead should explain why is he notable per WP:CREATIVE. Hope the above is of help. --ELEKHHT 13:10, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Hi Elekhh, Thanks for taking the time to pinpoint those aspects: they make sense to me. I'll try to mitigate these shortcomings. Should I give you a "heads up" once I do? Cheers! JamesCoulee (talk) 17:33, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Colonial era v. colonial
My only concern is that the scope for the articles is not in fact identical. Perhaps it should be but in some cases I felt it needed to be a bit broader. Someone wanted to delete Colonial architecture of Bogor.. But I understand the desire for uniformity and consistency. On the other hand, whether a mosque is an example of colonial architecture is I think.. unclear. It is certainly colonial era architecture. :) As far as the Bogor article I would consider merging it to the broader target but then it seems a bit undue.. So now it's a history of Bogor article. I don't know.. Suggestions welcome. OrganicEarth (talk) 01:11, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
- Actually I see it was an Architecture of Bogor article which still wasn't broad enough for at least one editor.. OrganicEarth (talk) 01:13, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'm following Architecture of Indonesia that distinguishes between vernacular and colonial architecture. If it was "colonial era" than both from that period would be included. I would suggest before performing major changes as to how information is organised, is always good to discuss on the relevant WikiProject talkpage and with previous contributors. Sometimes is not clear from your stubs what your intentions are. --ELEKHHT 01:21, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Brisbane
Just curious but why do you think some private Queenslander residence is worthy enough to belong in a inbox montage? There are no brownstones or townhouses in New York City's infobox montage. Nor are there any Georgian terraces in London's infobox imagery. Plus, a Queenslander is more relevant to an Architecture page than it is here. There is also a photo of the City Hall in the Governance section so why repeat it? It's been there for years and it fits/illustrates that section perfectly so why repeat it in the infobox? It's completely unnecessary. I don't appreciate the environment on some of these pages relating to Australian cities, because you and some other editors are very resistive to changes that are not your own. However I'm not going to retreat into submission just because you don't like my edits. I included the other bridge in the infobox because it shows how much of Brisbane is surrounded by water, and that much of the transport relies on water crossings. I also included the former Old State Library for its architectural heritage and significance. It's way more iconic than some tacky, crass man-made beach. Ashton 29 (talk) 02:55, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
