GA Cup questions
Greetings, I saw you scored both History of decompression research and development and On the Art of the Cinema at 18 points, but if memory serves me I picked both of them off the pink "needs review" box - although I could be wrong. It did make me curious as to how that's actually tracked since it's a timing issue and the box is cleared before the review is completed. I don't care about the 4 points over-all, like i said I could be remembering wrong, but I am curious to how you guys track this? MPJ-US 02:31, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi MPJ-DK, sorry for making the error. We normally check here so I may have been wrong.
I am checking right now. Apologies for the error.Apologies for not checking right, you will be given the 20 points. MrWooHoo (talk) 02:42, 8 March 2016 (UTC)- I wonder if the challenge here is because it took a bit for the reviews to complete so the articles dropped off that list. And like I said the 4 point difference is no biggie (now watch me get eliminated by 3 points because I said that ;-) ) the page you linked to was exactly what I was trying to find but had no luck finding. MPJ-US 02:46, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- It's really not, I just didn't bother checking the edit history of the page and I had a brain fart and forgot that July goes before August...You're fine. If you notice any other errors on my part/any other judges, feel free to contact us. Thanks! MrWooHoo (talk) 02:50, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

GA Cup question
I admit that I don't know a whole lot about how the GA cup works. Do participants benefit in any way from quick-failing a review? I received a quick-fail due to a copyvios hit from a mirror and I thought it was a bit befuddling that I wasn't even asked about it, notified on my talk page, or even pinged by the reviewer. Hopefully, the participant will be willing to take another look now that I've pinged them. If not, I guess it's another 7 month wait for me. *sigh* ~ RobTalk 00:34, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- @BU Rob13: Well, firstly, you didn't have to delete that question that all. It was not 'overly harsh' in the slightest. Also, I'd like to say that, no, participants get nothing out of quick failing a review. They have a chance of getting disqualified if they were to quick fail an article. It looks like the reviewer, MPJ-DK, is redoing the review, and you should be fine. Thanks for raising this concern. MrWooHoo (talk) 17:28, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Hey, should I remove Talk:Marina and the Diamonds/GA1 and Talk:Drink You Away/GA1 from my submissions page in the GA cup and re-add them next round (if I qualify), given that they most likely won't be completed by the 29th? Thanks, Azealia911 talk 23:28, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

2016 GA Cup-Round 2
Greetings, GA Cup competitors! Wednesday saw the end of Round 1. Sainsf took out Round 1 with an amazing score of 765. In second place, MPJ-DK earned an astounding 742 points, and in third place, FunkMonk received 610 points. In Round 1, 206 reviews were completed, more than any other year! At the beginning of March, there were 595 outstanding nominations in the GAN queue; by the end of Round 1, there were 490. We continue to make a difference at GAN and throughout Wikipedia, something we should all be proud of. Thanks to all our competitors for helping to make the GA Cup a continued success, and for your part in helping other editors improve articles. We hope to see all remaining users fighting it out in Round 2 so we can lower the backlog as much as possible. To qualify for the second round, you needed to make it into the top 16 of participants. Users were placed in 4 random pools of 4. To qualify for Round 3, the top 2 in each pool will progress, and there will also be one wildcard. This means that the participant who comes in 9th place (all pools combined) will also move on. Round 2 will start on April 1 at 0:00:01 UTC and end on April 28 at 23:59:59 UTC. Information about Round 2 and the pools can be found here Also, remember that a major rule change will go into effect starting on April 1, which marks the beginning of Round Two. Round 1 had an issue brought up in the rules, which we are correcting with this clarification. We believe that this change will make the competition more inherently fair. The new rule is: All reviews must give the nominator (or anyone else willing to improve the article) time to address the issues at hand, even if the article would qualify for what is usually called a "quick fail" in GA terms. To avoid further confusion, we have updated the scoring page, replacing the term "quick fail" with the term "fail without granting time for improvements". We expect all reviewers to put a review on hold for seven days in cases such as these as well, in order to apply the same standards to every competitor. The judges will strictly enforce this new rule. Good luck and have fun! Cheers from Figureskatingfan, 3family6, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletter, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant still competing, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

Question about GA Cup
- Hello, I was wondering how I could drop out of the GA cup. Unfortunately, I will be unable to fully commit the necessary time/energy to it as I have been really busy with work and school. I have really appreciated reviewing the various articles and working and communicating with different users on here so thank you for the opportunity and experience. Aoba47 (talk) 02:51, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
Did you miss this?
Thanks for awarding points diligently at the GA Cup, but I am afraid you missed a review of mine, Talk:Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary/GA1, which I submitted before the end of the first round (saw this from [1]). Thanks. Sainsf <^>Feel at home 10:23, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Sainsf: Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will award those points for Round 2. Cheers! MrWooHoo (talk) 23:38, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
- Um, did you add this? I was confused as I do not have this review on my Submissions, am I to add it? Thanks, Sainsf <^>Feel at home 06:26, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Sainsf: I was using my calculator to add up points and I forgot to add those points in. Do you mind "readding" the review to your submissions page? Cheers. MrWooHoo (talk) 14:04, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification and efforts. I have added it now. Cheers! Sainsf <^>Feel at home 14:11, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
