Romanization for words of English origin
On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー Fainaru Fantajī?) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).
Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.
One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.
What this invitation is:
- You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.
What this invitation is not:
- This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
- This is not a vote on compromises either.
It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Rakuteneagleslogo.gif
Thanks for uploading File:Rakuteneagleslogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Template
The only reason things should be broken is if a page uses those reviews. That they use them is no excuse to keep the status quo. There is a way to add a depracation, but I'm not sure how to do it. The bottom line though is that coding should be gone because this timeplate is suppose to only house reliable sources because its used on article [ages as a reliable review summary.
I have had no issues with it.陣内Jinnai 21:39, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Request, or favor, or however you want to put it
Good evening good sir. I have a favor to ask. I am in the midst of re-vamping the article hitting for the cycle, in part splitting out the list of MLB players to its own list in order to make an actual article on the cycle proper. I want this cycle article to include something of a world view instead of just MLB. I know that you are the resident NPB expert, and I have been trying to find information on NPB players to hit for the cycle. I just don't know where to find source info, and I figured you might know better than I. The most recent cycle I found was Julio Zuleta's on September 23, 2007. Are there any more recent, and are there sources? Would you mind just helping me out in finding some of that info (if you can)? Let me know on my talk page. If you want to view the current draft, it is here. Thank you in advance! — KV5 • Talk • 01:33, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Hello. You have a new message at Killervogel5's talk page. — KV5 • Talk • 00:24, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
I see your cycle list. Coming along well. I've completed my work and moved my pages into the mainspace. When you complete your list of NPB cycles, please add it to the "see also" section and the hatnote of Hitting for the cycle. It would also really be great if you would add some info about the players to do unique things with cycles, especially those who have hit multiples. Cheers! — KV5 • Talk • 13:48, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, yes, yes! Wonderful work. That adds so much to the article. I'm really tickled at how well this is coming along. — KV5 • Talk • 11:06, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Have you thought about taking the NPB cycle list to WP:FLC? It would only need a few tweaks to get there. You definitely have some good pictures to choose from. I'd be willing to help with the prep work if you like. — KV5 • Talk • 23:35, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've been thinking of taking the article Hitting for the cycle to GA. You certainly deserve credit for all the NPB work you put in. If the NPB list goes through FLC, we'd have a nice, compact featured topic candidate. If you don't want to do the FLC work, let me know because I would be happy to take it through the paces, with your leave of course. — KV5 • Talk • 13:13, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
- I would love to make the NPB a FL, but unfortunately I'm a bit worried about the quality of the sources. Since the cycle is a fairly new idea for the NPB, they don't really have any official lists on their site. I'm confident all of my info in that article is accurate, but the source to back it up may not be up to snuff. Feel free to take a look though and tell me what you think. I could try to find a few more reliable sources in the meantime. --TorsodogTalk 20:14, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, I see what you mean. That source doesn't really have any backup for its data. Not saying that it's incorrect, but I see that you maybe wouldn't want to take that to FLC. Is there an equivalent of Retrosheet for Japanese baseball, that you could look up the box scores? — KV5 • Talk • 20:19, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey, first of all I just wanted to thank you for all the great work you have done of the Japanese baseball pages. I`m just starting on Wikipedia and have been doing a little work on the Yokohama DeNA BayStars page. I noticed that the uniform graphic for the is out of date. I have absolutely no idea how to make one but I noticed you made the last one. The new uniforms look like this http://www.mbga.jp/pc/html/ydb/index.html if you are interested in updating. saw you reverted. The map i added are the official hard boundaries set by the city of chicago. they should represented on the map. could possibly add the unofficial lines in a different color or dashed lines to represent the expansion of the area.--Nickvet419 (talk) 02:01, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- you can find the official neighborhood maps here [1][2]
- I agree that the boundaries are larger than the city defines because the neighborhood has expanded into the south loop area in 1980 with China Square and the parks. I adjusted the map and gave it timeline boundaries outlines. --Nickvet419 (talk) 23:24, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Main page appearance: Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo
This is a note to let the main editors of Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on December 18, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/December 18, 2011. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo is an arcade-style action game co-developed by Factor 5 and LucasArts. It is a spiritual sequel to the successful Star Wars: Rogue Squadron released two years earlier. Despite the similarities between the two games, the development team designed a new game engine for Battle for Naboo and included land- and water-based combat in addition to aerial combat. Set in the fictional Star Wars galaxy, the game takes place during the events depicted in the film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Players control Gavyn Sykes, a lieutenant in Naboo's Royal Security Forces. As the game progresses, Sykes and the Royal Security Forces fight the Trade Federation in 15 missions that take place on Naboo or in the space immediately surrounding it. The game concludes after the player completes a mission that recreates the film's climactic assault on the Trade Federation's Droid Control Ship. Battle for Naboo was published by LucasArts and THQ and released for the Nintendo 64 in December 2000. A Windows port was released three months later in March 2001. The Nintendo 64 version received generally positive reviews; critics praised the game's tight and responsive controls, but expressed dislike for the game's Episode I setting. (more...)

2012 Nippon Professional Baseball
Hi there, spotted your work on 2012 Nippon Professional Baseball season, and thanks for doing it! But spotted a few errors -- the playoffs, in particular, have a whole bunch of numbers which seem inaccurate, and aren't consistent with 2012 Japan Series. 2012 Japan Series
Dear Torsodog, Thanks for your edits on 2012 Japan Series. I made a few edits to the page before you began, going by Japanese and English sources. I realize now I made some mistakes (which you corrected), one of which was the score (it wasn't a 2-0 shutout; the Giants won 4-3). I made my first edit after looking at a Japanese-language source, then changed it (the score) after looking at an English source that was in error. Take care, and happy editing!Minusminority (talk) 04:12, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Stargate pinball flyer.JPG
Thanks for uploading File:Stargate pinball flyer.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. File permission problem with File:Bean3.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Bean3.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:50, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

"legume-like"
Your reversion of my editing out the words "legume-like" in the description of the Cloud Gate sculpture is counterproductive. In this instance "legume" is not descriptive of a bean shape as you so earnestly desire. Legumes comprise one of the largest families of flowering plants, numbering some 400 genera and 10,000 species. Alfalfa, clover, peas, beans, lentils, soybeans, peanuts, wisteria vines and locust trees are among the family. To quote Wikipedia itself, "A legume (/ˈlɛɡjuːm/ or /ˌləˈɡjuːm/) is a plant in the family Fabaceae (or Leguminosae), or the fruit or seed of such a plant."
While a limited world view might associate legumes only with beans, this is patently not the case. Does "the bean" resemble anything other than a bean? It's called "the bean" because of its bean-like shape, if anything. But why "bean-like" shape? It's called the bean because of its shape. Imho, adding superfluous (and especially erroneous) explanation to a simple statement needlessly complicates the matter. Nickrz (talk) 17:40, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
