Abbreviation
I am not sure we need to say this [1]. It is standard that abbreviations are placed in circle brackets after a word is it not? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 07:45, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
- Dunno, but I've seen articles starting with "Nonproprietary-name (Manufacturer) is a drug...", with "Nonproprietary-name (Trade name) is a drug...", and with "Nonproprietary-name (former code) is a drug...", and I like to err on the side of clarity (especially because we're writing for laypeople). --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 15:02, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Cedrene Isomers
You state here [2] that there are other cedrene isomers beyond α and β. I have never seen reference to this anywhere. Could you cite a source? Beakerboy (talk) 14:14, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- I meant that there are other chemical structures of cedrene isomers (at least (+)-α-cedrene and (−)-β-cedrene), not necessarily that they occur in nature or have been synthesised. As I couldn't find any sources, the phrasing "there are two isomers of cedrene in nature" (or similar) would have been inappropriate. Can you come up with a clearer phrasing? What about "two known isomers"?--ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 14:54, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- What is your definition of a "cedrene isomer"? If you think it's any compound with a chemical formula C15H24 then there are many Sesquiterpenes which meet this criteria. The way I believe it is meant is..."There are two chemicals compounds which go by the name cedrene ((+)-α-cedrene and (−)-β-cedrene), and they are isomers of one another". I would think that any other chemicals with a similar structure would not be called cedrene, because they do not occur in the ceder tree. Beakerboy (talk) 17:31, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Funny, it looks like I'm the one who originally wrote that sentence 4 years ago, so I should say, "the way It is meant is" :-) Also, looking at the history, it appears like you've added more to the article than I have, so Thanks! Beakerboy (talk) 17:42, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think that any compound with the same formula is a cedrene, but the enantiomers (should they exist or be synthesised or discovered) would be called cedrenes, given usual practices. I know this is somewhat nitpicky. Maybe I'll come up with a better phrasing based on what you wrote above. --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 07:23, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Math templates
Hi, assuming the southern England IP edits were yours, I fear you might be wasting your time supplanting ((mvar|x)) s with ((math|"x")) .... I am supplanting }s with )s to avoid activating the templates, here.....
They are synonyms in WP compiler usage, as long as only one character is involved... mvar is a quick way to avoid the single quotes italicizing the character inside math... Your substitutions are certainly not harmful, but they really should not alter the output! ὑποδεδημένος. Cuzkatzimhut (talk) 19:00, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Oh, now I see your point.... You took more characters in... Delete after reading..... Cuzkatzimhut (talk) 19:03, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not based in England, but thanks for telling me anyway :-) --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 11:00, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
Sorting disambiguation pages
Hi! Please don't sort disambiguation pages alphabetically, like you did at RW. They should be ordered by relevance and importance; alphabetic sorting often makes it worse. See MOS:DABORDER for the guidelines. -- intgr [talk] 09:50, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, I wasn't aware of this. Not sure how to judge the importance of the Robertson–Walker metric (probably low as it hasn't been included up till now), so I put it at the end. --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 11:57, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- This particular disambig page seems pretty badly sorted/grouped already so it's hard to say where the Robertson–Walker metric should go. That's why I didn't revert the edit -- my message was more of a general heads-up. I've listed the disambig page for cleanup, maybe someone comes along to fix it up. -- intgr [talk] 13:49, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
Formula fontification
Perhaps it would be worth finding someone who could create a bot for automating formula fontification. It might take awhile to get through all >10000 chemicals by hand. :) Also, this type of fontification probably shouldn't be done for inorganic compounds because it uses Hill notation which preferred only for organic compounds, not inorganic compounds. (I'm thinking of this edit to Adams's catalyst). Regards, -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:11, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
- I was doing it on a half-automated basis, the idea being that I could do some other fixes on the fly. (Not very successfully, though.) Thanks for pointing out PtO₂; I thought the chembox distinguishes organic and anorganic compounds automatically. BTW, it's only 5,151 articles… Cheers, ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 16:14, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
Editor of the Week : nominations needed!
The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

Tofogliflozin
Hi
You uploaded two drawings of Tofogliflozin. The one in 3D however is wrong; it is missing a CH2 at the C6-position. Can you please correct it and change the sites which are currently using the wrong version accordingly? Thanks!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:AA13:E100:6780:F1B2:F96C:A6E0:C715 (talk) 11:27, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
Done. Thanks for pointing this out! You might need to refresh the pages to see the change. Cheers, ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 18:41, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

question for ), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blinatumomab)
Hi Anypodetos, I am a medical doctor working as a scientific journalist. I wrote an article about leucemia and I saw your great picture about blinatumomab. May the editor print your picture? Of course they would cite you as copyright. I saw that the picture may be published under certain circumstances, but I do not know what it means. Thank you very much for your answer, all the best from Felicitas. felicitas.witte@icloud.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.40.29.34 (talk) 11:21, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Felicitas, thanks for asking! I just translated the picture from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BiTE_antibody_01.svg. You may use either version. You have to name "Armin Kübelbeck" (the original author) as the copyright holder, give a link to the web page (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BiTE_antibody_en.svg or https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BiTE_antibody_01.svg), and note that it is available under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (CC BY-SA 3.0 for short). Best wishes, ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 12:16, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
Great, thank you for the quick answer! So I will write: copyright: Armin Kübelbeck, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BiTE_antibody_01.svg. The picture is available under CC BY-SA 3.0
Is that ok like this? Thank you so much!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.40.29.34 (talk) 13:23, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, that sounds fine! --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 13:33, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
