===Wikihalo===
I hate the Wikipedia:Wikihalo. South Philly 02:51, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
*Please explain why you think it should be removed. --Gray Porpoise 17:28, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
**The award is poorly administered, is overly bureaucratic ... but I defended it when it was up for deletion. Maybe we can rework it? --evrik 22:15, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
* The WikiHalo should be demoted to be any other award, to be allowed to be given out by any Wikipedian, to any Wikipedian. Creating votes, and they are votes, to deem who is valued is ridiculous. Highway Daytrippers 14:00, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
*Could someone redesign the page for the award before we demote it?
*Wikipedia:Wikihalo/draft
I'd like to come to consensus before we do it. --evrik 14:08, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
*'''Comment''' - I suggested elsewhere that perhaps we might change it from being given out on an as-requested basis to perhaps giving one (or more, depending on the votes) out as part of an annual awards/community event. I wonder if that proposal would meet with approval. Badbilltucker 21:36, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
*well ... maybe you could go ahead and post your comments here ... --evrik 17:35, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
:**Fair enough. There is an existing proposal to have a sort of annual Appreciation Week. The proposals are at this point not set in stone, but it is being discussed as a time when the various projects and other groups could indicate their appreciation of and reward those who have made significant contributions to certain fields. However, there does not yet seem to be any sort of award to be given out by wikipedia as a whole to those editors whose contributions might not fall within any specific field, or whose contributions might cross over a variety of fields. I proposed that the Wikihalo might be the best such award for these general purposes. Personally, I think selection for such an award should be a matter of selection, or election, by as large a group of editors as possible, although the exact number to be awarded could vary dependent upon the number of people receiving consensus votes to receive it. I would suggest that, at the very least, the Wikihalo award remain as it is until this particular proposal is accepted or rejected by the group considering it. *The guy who created the Wikihalo has "left" the project. I would be interested in seeing the Wikipedia:Wikihalo/draft of the new guidleiones before we make a move to get rid of it. --evrik 13:39, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
::As the proposal deals with Esperanza's appreciation week proposal, which I have no real controlling input in, it would be more than a little presumptuous of me to make a proposal on the award until after the Appreciation week itself is decided upon. I have left a note there regarding this proposed deletion, and hope to be getting some sort of response from them soon. Badbilltucker 00:46, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
*'''I see no harm''' in keeping it, it's a nice award for occasions that require it.... why delete something that isn't polluting or dangerous to the project? -- Tawker 04:31, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
*I think you're missing the point. We want to eliminate the bureaucracy. --evrik (talk) 23:06, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
