Waterskiing or Water Skiing: one word or two?
Waterskiing is the article title but waterskiing and water skiing are used interchangably throughout the article, and the predominant usage is as two words. Which is it? Czoal (talk) 01:05, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- The title is inconsistent with the lede sentence. That is undesirable. I will be renaming the article, which will retain the one-word form as a redirect. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:14, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, but how about the other inconistencies in the article: waterski vs. water ski, and waterskier vs. water skier? They are also used interchangably. And how about Category:Waterskiing? Also, Queenie (waterskiing elephant). Finally, I see United States Waterskiing Team, which has no sourcing to prove it even exists; I did a quick search and found nothing. Is it a hoax article? It's the article creator's only edit. Czoal (talk) 02:40, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Help
- I am being asked a number of pressing questions by User:Widefox and request assistance. Huskers110110 (talk) 02:28, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
For the convenience of editors, these are the articles at the heart of the dispute: Virginia Tech National Capital Region, Virginia Tech Richmond Center, and Virginia Tech Roanoke Center. All of them were recently created by Huskers110110. Czoal (talk) 05:41, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
-
- Just my two cents. I think you should continue talking to Widefox. The concerns about all the articles you have created about various Virginia Tech entities appear to be legitimate. From a quick glance, the articles read as advertsing - even with prices included, like here in Virginia Tech National Capital Region - and all of them are relying completely on Virginia Tech- or Virginia Tech-related websites for its sourcing. I don't see any secondary sources. There are also copyright violations; you cannot copy and paste content from a source. It looks like you've put in a lot of time and effort into these articles. But are you being paid to write them? Or do you have some other type of conflict of interest? Do you edit, or have you edited, under other accounts? Czoal (talk) 03:15, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Huskers110110: part of the reason User:Widefox may appear to be "pressing" for answers is that you clearly appear to be avoiding giving direct answers to simple questions. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:31, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- I've got 5 help notifications mentioning me in different pages, rather than a simple answer to what's going on. I was even willing to let others discuss these issues but Help suggested continuing dialogue with me, so I did. Seems WP:BOOMERANG, and either a desperate new editor needing help or arguably WP:FORUMSHOPPING. For a new editor, their level of proficiency is impressive, so the question about other accounts seems pertinent. Another editor has undercovered copyvios in these articles so there's more urgent issues too. Widefox; talk 12:45, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Mobile chevrons
When a page first loads, all the chevrons point upwards but the content is collapsed. When a section is then opened, the cheuron still points upward. Only when the section is then collapsed again does the chevron point upwards. I suspect this is a bug and the chevrons should initially point upwards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quentin Smith (talk • contribs) 06:17, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- I also observe this bug when I use the mobile version. The first sentences above should read "When a page first loads, all the chevrons point downwards but the content is collapsed. When a section is then opened, the cheuron still points downward. Only when the section is then collapsed again does the chevron point upwards." Maproom (talk) 09:12, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Copyright: International Association of Commissioning Engineers, Vision and Mission
I have just submitted an article for wiki and it has been rejected and removed, the reason being that it "used copyright material", but it is my copyright and the website it directed me to show I had "copied" the material is my website? As I wrote both it is very similar. Please help how can I re-submit the material? Paul Spice — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.36.247.208 (talk) 14:06, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- The easy way is to change the attribution on your webpage to make the material public domain so it can then be used freely by anybody including wikipedia. Also note that you should not really be adding stuff from your own website to wikipedia as you probably have a conflict of interest, have a read of WP:COI. MilborneOne (talk) 17:31, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- Aside from the problems with COI and copyright, it is usually better to summarize the purpose of the organization in neutral uninvolved terms, based on what other independent sources have reported about it. The organization's self-published "vision" or "mission" has little or no relevance in an encyclopedic article. GermanJoe (talk) 18:42, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- For a subject to have a Wikipedia article it needs to have had significant coverage in published reliable sources independent of the subject. I have looked for coverage in newspapers, journals, etc., but without success so far, so it may be that your organisation is not notable in Wikipedia's terms. - David Biddulph (talk) 18:58, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Paul. It is rarely appropriate to copy material from an organisation's own website, because Wikipedia has almost no interest in what an organisation (or a person, band, company, school or anything) says about themselves. It is only interested in what others, unconnected with the subject, have published about the subject. --ColinFine (talk) 21:03, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
Billy herrington
Gentleman, my name is Billy herrington. Your Wikipedia info states I am incorrectly labeled as bisexual or gay. I am not. I am and have always been straight , and heterosexual. Although an actor, to the gay community, I have never ever claimed to have been gay or bisexual. Can we please correct this? Thank you for your help cause naturally this more then any movies I've portrayed has caused me personal problems and well it is simply an in accurate statement I would appreciate any help or time and the effort that you put into correcting this in accuracy as it does affect me personally in my every day life when people Google me and your Wikipedia page defines me inaccurately please feel free to contact me at anytime thank you very much again for your delicate handling of this matter good means a lot to me and any of the mistakes that I have made in my past I have gone to great lengths to correct and grow and learn from and I completely understand why you may perhaps have inadvertently and mistakenly mislabeled me and I hold and begrudge you not thank you very much. Although I very much have a gay or bisexual following and in no way or am I shamed or embarrassed if I were to be of that sexual in nature I am not thank you Billy Herrington — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.132.122.254 (talk) 14:37, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

- That article is really terrible and has no valid English language sources. I have trimmed a lot of the poorly sourced claims and will keep it on my watchlist.
- If you are Billy Herrington, other measures you can take for issues about you on Wikipedia are outlined at Wikipedia:Autobiography#Problems_in_an_article_about_you. If the oversight team gets involved, it is easier to maintain article content that is purely based upon what reliably published sources say about the subject. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 15:01, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) The information was poorly sourced or u nsourced and has been removed by another editor. Are there any reliably published statements on your sexuality? if there are, we could cite those and avoid this error occurring again. DES (talk) 15:04, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Removing template
How do I get rid of the "does not cite any references"-template at Kijiya. I just recreated and referenced this article. bamse (talk) 15:40, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- I fixed it in this edit. I suspect that your confusion arose from the fact that the template {{references}} is not the equivalent of {{reflist}}, but rather confusingly redirects to {{unreferenced}}. Deli nk (talk) 17:20, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Wayback machine
I need someone who knows about the Wayback Machine to perform their magic on the url as a reference in this diff please. Thanks in advance. Mjroots (talk) 16:55, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- No problem, working on it now. Tiggerjay (talk) 17:07, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- (EC) Not sure what you mean, but I archived the URL on the Wayback Machine, and added an archiveurl. Or tried to but got mostly editconflicted in the later part. Nil Einne (talk) 17:12, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- Many thanks both. Tiggerjay got what I wanted, so that when the page gets changed in the future the link will show it as it was. Mjroots (talk) 18:26, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes that's what I tried to do, but I still find you description confusing. Note that you don't do anything to the URL. Rather you archive the page (if necessary) and then add the archive URL to the citation. The original URL should generally not be removed, as it makes the references confusing. Particularly in cases where you use a service like Webcitation with generally* non transparent archive URLs, where it loses information (if the archive URL is broken, finding another copy may be difficult or impossible since you don't know the original URL). So there is no, or should be no "magic" performed on the original URL. The "magic" is seperate from the original URL. (Unless you count archiving the URL as magic, but that's equally confusing since technically the "magic" is actually on the content at the URL, not on the URL itself.) In future, it may be better to simply ask someone to add an archive URL, or if you feel the need to specify the service, and archive URL at whatever service you prefer; to avoid such confusion. * = webcitation does support transparent archive URLs but they aren't the primary recommendation Nil Einne (talk) 16:00, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- Many thanks both. Tiggerjay got what I wanted, so that when the page gets changed in the future the link will show it as it was. Mjroots (talk) 18:26, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
Autoconfirmed?
Hi, my name is SireWonton. Why is my account not autoconfirmed? My account is more than two weeks old and I have made more than 10 edits; however, I'm not autoconfirmed yet. Can someone help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SireWonton (talk • contribs) 18:49, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- What makes you think that you're not autoconfirmed? --David Biddulph (talk) 19:02, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- You appear to meet the criteria as auto-confirmed, however know that it is a pseudo-group and not a specific permission you would see listed or associated with your username. If you're encountering problems editing while logged in, please share those problems. Otherwise you should be all set. You can read a bit more about it over at WP:CONFIRM. - I have copied this here from the archives given the update above, although I'm not sure if people can offer much help, since the OP hasn't provided any more info as was suggested here Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous#Can't edit semi-protected pages. Nil Einne (talk) 17:02, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
- @SireWonton: Please name the page and describe what happens when you try to edit it. If you see a message then quote it exactly. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:03, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
Hey guys. So, @Deor: @Tiggerjay: @PrimeHunter: this is the problem I have. When you go to the page "Jason" (Greek mythology) the page is "semi-protected". When I hit the edit button, this message appears on the top right of my screen: "Note: This page has been semi-protected so that only autoconfirmed users can edit it. If you need any help getting started with editing, see the New contributors' help page." then a line break then: "11:04, August 26 2009 Cenarium protected Jason [edit=autoconfirmed] (indefinite) [move=autoconfirmed] (indefinite)" I am not saying this is a problem for me, its just that I think an error is occurring in the system since I am confirmed, can edit, but can't SAVE. SireWonton 23:13, 4 November 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SireWonton (talk • contribs)
- @SireWonton: Just seeing the edit button and being able to click on it indicates that you are autoconfirmed. If you were not you would only see a "view source" button and when you clicked that you would see this warning. Not being able to save is a different issue. What exactly are you trying to change in the article? --Stabila711 (talk) 23:18, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Not much @Stabila711: but I want to know why I cannot save edits since I am a confirmed user. Isn't that a right that a confirmed user has? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SireWonton (talk • contribs) 23:21, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- You didn't really answer my question SireWonton. There are a lot of reasons why an edit would not save. Edit filters, blacklists, ect. What do you see when you try to hit the save button? Is there a warning? What happens? What are you trying to change? --Stabila711 (talk) 23:24, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- All autoconfirmed users see the quoted message when they click edit on a semiprotected page like Jason. We need to know what happens when you try to save. I see you often use VisualEditor. Does the problem occur for both "Edit" and "Edit source"? PrimeHunter (talk) 23:26, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes @Stabila711: @PrimeHunter: I did solve the problem when I use "edit source." I can edit it now, just added punctuation to the page through it. To Stabila, no, using Visual Editor the "Save Page" button is still there, but is grayed out and I can't click on it, unlike unprotected pages where it is blue, and edits go through. However, I seem to have solved the problem using edit source SireWonton 23:34, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
@Stabila711: @PrimeHunter: Can we alert these types of users (autoconfirmed and confirmed) that editing may not be able to be saved through visual editor? SireWonton 00:25, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- @SireWonton: You can post at WP:VPT regarding the issue and someone there could file a bug report if necessary. On another note, you need to change your signature. Signatures should have links to both your user page and your talk page per Wikipedia:Signatures. Ping, and the notification system, will not work if your signature does not have links to your talk page. --Stabila711 (talk) 00:33, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Roger Bart
Trisha paytas recently made up lies and accusations as she's done in the past to get her name in the headlines. Roger Bart's wiki now says cheater as an occupation. Eustace Folville Article; As Artistic as Factual
Eustace Folville and his Folville Gang have become known as a sort of Robin Hood and his merry men group. His wiki article reflects this and, although there are refs, it contains a very high degree of opinion and artistic license, i.e. it is not very fact based. It really needs the bias and drama to be weeded out to be a decent encyclopaedic article but that would mean trimming it back significantly. What would be the best way to do this? If you were to just add a load of [citation needed] and [dubious ] tags they would probably just sit there for an eternity... Thanks Sliven2000 (talk) 23:11, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks guys. I actually decided to create a new article that is related to the Folville/Zouch/Beler/Willoughby affair and leads into it (see William Trussell). When you start linking the different actors involved in an incident you start to get a clearer view of what happened and why. Think I will still a) move some of the Folville family info into Eustace's father John Folville, b) add a background section to Eustace Folville to give an idea of events leading up to the Beler murder c) cut down some of the remaining vagaries/opinions Sliven2000 (talk) 16:44, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

IPblock-exempt?
I notice that there is a such thing an IPblock-EXEMPT status. How does one get such a status. I am spending a lot of time in libraries again and would like to pursue such and exemption.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:21, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- As noted at Wikipedia:IP block exemption, it is ONLY granted in cases where there is demonstrated need, and often removed when the need has passed. "Demonstrated need" in this case is that you are currently blocked by a hard block (no editing with accounts or IPs) from an IP address or IP Range where you are editing. It is unlikely you will be editing from an IP address which has been hardblocked. If you are, you'll know, because your inability to edit articles will tell you that. Unless and until you find yourself in that situation, it is unlikely that IP Block Exemption status would be granted. --Jayron32 04:29, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- I now realize that I am listed at Special:ListUsers/ipblock-exempt, but that I got blocked at a Chicago Public Library IP address about a week or two ago. What gives?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:56, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- No idea. You were given the IPBlockExemption back in 2009; no idea why it didn't work for you a few weeks ago. Maybe there's some kind double secret block that the IP got hit with? --Jayron32 03:57, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

high risk merchant account
Hello, My article on High risk merchant account is removed no matter how many times I revise it. There is a huge importance for merchants to know the difference between a merchant account and a high risk merchant account. We have been in the industry for 10 years and everyday we deal with educating people on the differences. I wanted to create a qiki page that explained this. In short, just so you can understand. Typical banks like " Chase bank, Bank of America, wells fargo, ect" will only set up merchant accounts for retial stores that "physically can touch" a persons credit/debit card. Places like, dry cleaners, clothing stores, restaurants, jewelry, ect. They WILL NOT set up merchant accounts for industries such as: Call centers, Diet Pills online, MLM, Hotel discount websites, Coupon sites, Debt collection agencies, credit repair agencies, tech support companies, ect. These companies need a "high risk merchant account" because all of their customers are not face to face with the merchant and there is a higher probability for chargebacks or stolen credit cards. Their rates will be higher and there will be more rules and regulations with these "high risk merchant accounts" That being said, I really would like to create the page to educate the public on the vast differences but it seems that due to the lack of awareness of wiki editors they think it is advertising, so if you could help me better understand I would really appreciate it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmp17 (talk • contribs) 14:22, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Wikimedia projects
I was looking at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions when I noticed at the top an invitation to take part in a survey on harassment. The first question in the survey was about how often I take part in "Wikimedia projects". I have no idea what these are, so I tried to find out, failed, and abandoned the survey. Is this Help Desk a "Wikimedia project"? How about "Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab", or Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chemistry? If users unfamiliar with this obscure piece of terminology are forced to abandon the survey, there'll be a lot of bias in who can take part. Maproom (talk) 17:27, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- I tried to find the survey again so as to provide a link, and got this mystifying page. Maproom (talk) 17:35, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- A Wikimedia project is a wiki-based project run by the Wikimedia Foundation. Everything at wikipedia.org is part of Wikipedia, the best known Wikimedia project. See meta:Harassment survey 2015. meta: is a coordination site for Wikimedia projects. I haven't sen the survey and think it's only presented to a small part of the visitors of Wikimedia projects. The questions are apparently not published until after the survey is over. Based on your post I guess some or all of the questions are not specific to the project the user saw the survey at. You can post feedback at meta:Talk:Harassment survey 2015. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:55, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

The Victims Perth Band, rebuttal on character assassination by David Faulkner & James Baker.
For starters, I was never ever informed to any re releases via 1977 Records Japan, if I was asked I would have declined, because the music at best is moderate to say the least, in fact it sucks, I had let past releases through but again, was never ever consulted if my mechanical rights could be used. The LIVE album, I would NEVER have allowed to go ahead, due to the simple fact its embarrassing for me to listen to what is no more than utter rubbish, out of tune out of time and in general, bad all round.
David Faulkner & James Baker have never ever sought my permission, never called me not texted me via Facebook, in which I am freely available, so for your article to state they disagreed with me is wrong.
I declined on the release of the song "High School Girls" to be used in the movie for the "MULE" because I felt it totally inappropriate a 56 year old man allowing a song about picking up high school girls, especially in a climate were pedophilia is rife.
I would like you to advise me on what in your opinions would be the best forum to contact to settle matters once & for all? as I am sick to death of hearing liable statements from both David Faulkner and James Baker? Finally, I am seeking legal advise toward the consistent liable comments from the two parties concerned. I have taken measures so that no re releases will ever come out again for the next 99 years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.151.198.244 (talk) 19:43, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

- Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard has a navbox with a "Discuss" link to Wikipedia talk:File Upload Wizard. Many uploaders give false license claims to make the upload go through. I guess the option is a measure against that. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:26, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Dear Wikipedia Help Desk,
My name is Patrick Mac Manus and I work at Loyola College, Watsonia (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Loyola_College,_Melbourne). I am wondering if companies, such as Loyola College, can take ownership of pages and be given exclusive editing rights to the page so that way malicious content cannot be added?

New article Bull TV comedy
Hi I have been trying to create a page for a uk tv comedy called Bull (2015 TV series) (there is a same named programme in the USA) and I have received this message below, and I have absolutely no clue how to fix it or what to do.
"This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources" SimDiago (talk) 15:11, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- @SimDiago: It means that an editor has requested, by placing the tag there, that they think the article would be improved if there were more references to sources such as magazine articles, web sites, newspaper articles, etc. which discuss the show. Dismas|(talk) 16:59, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Hello, SimDiago. That is a message which has been added manually by an editor (you can look at the article's history to see who) and may be removed by any editor when they think that the problem has been fixed. The problem is that there are no independent sources. While the references are to reliable sources, and the citations are formatted correctly, both the sources are clearly regurgitations of a press release. Wikipedia has almost no interest in what the subject of an article (or their associates) have to say about the subject: an article should be nearly 100% based on what people unconnected with the subject have published about it. If you can find a substantial independent piece of writing about it (such as a review) then it can ground the article; if you cannot, then the subject is not at present notable in Wikipedia's special sense, and no article about it, however written, will be acceptable at present. --ColinFine (talk) 17:02, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Changing name of page from Denver Montclair International School to International School of Denver
Hello,
I work for the International School of Denver, formerly the Denver Montclair International School. I have made some edits on the Montclair page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denver_Montclair_International_School) to represent this name change; however I cannot figure out how to change the actual name of the page from Denver Montclair International School to the International School of Denver. Can someone help me do this? Or do I need to create an entirely new page, and then somehow have people that search "Denver Montclair" be redirected?

- @Flamegang7630: Right now you have an account here but no user page. So, that wouldn't show until you create it. And your sandbox page, by default, is not indexed by Google. So that won't show up either. That said, Wikipedia is not a web host, so if you're looking to post something about yourself and have Google find that then I think you might have an incorrect idea of what Wikipedia is. We're here to build an encyclopedia. Not to draw attention to our own user pages. Dismas|(talk) 16:56, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Merging pages
If there is a discussion about merging two pages how is a consensus established. The assertion is that the two pages have significantly duplicate comment.
Is it OK to merge two pages for content based reasons, e.g. to merge pages of an organization that one does not like.
Is there a central repository on Wikipedia where suggestions for page mergers can be discussed so that decisions are not content based.
If a person proposes the merger, and another person object, is it enough for the person to say that that person is not neutral for their comment to be dismissed.
How does Wikipedia arbitrate such issues and do administrators get involved and can they be contacted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:BC73:E3B0:A0AA:B4A:AA05:733D (talk) 17:40, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Omission of Disley Golf club on the Disley page
Hi. Would it be possible to add "Disley golf club" to the page about "Disley" ( Cheshire) There is reference to a golf club that only lasted 30 years but Disley golf club has been a part of the village since 1889 and is still open today. Its address is on Stanley Hall lane.
Below is a transcript from the golf clubs home page. http://www.disleygolfclub.co.uk/home.aspx?i=no
'Disley Golf Club welcomes you to this traditional Club where golf has been played for over 125 years. The Club is situated ten miles from Manchester on the very edge of the Peak District. The views from all aspects are truly breathtaking, and on a clear day over eight counties can be seen. This parkland, moorland course is a good test for all abilities with, some say, the finest greens in Cheshire.
Formed in 1889 this mature parkland golf course is set amongst the stunning countryside on the Cheshire and Derbyshire border . The 6002 yard, par 70, golf course has been self titled “the jewel of the Peak District” due to its well maintained condition and amazing views.'
Kind regards Linda Almeda 86.179.185.169 (talk) 17:51, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Linda. If a reliable source (such as a major newspaper, or a book from a reputable publisher), independent of the club, has published information about the club, then that information could possibly be added to the article, cited to that independent publication - though it would also require consensus that the information was encyclopaedic. But Wikipedia has almost no interest in what an organisation wants to say about itself: normally, only if people unconnected with the club have thought it worth writing about will it meet Wikipedia's criteria for notability. --ColinFine (talk) 18:38, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Wikidata interwiki links - Blackcurrant
The French article fr:Cassis (fruit) has three "Autres langues" links: en, es, and ja. But when I clicked on "Modifier les liens" to display the Wikidata page, it it displays not a single one. It turns out, the three linked articles all are connected with the French article about the plant, fr:Ribes nigrum; it just so happens that French is the only Wikipedia that makes that distinction. Therefore, three questions:
- Why does fr:Cassis (fruit) display these three?
- Why don't these three links get displayed in the Wikidata page?
- What should be done in a case like this? It obviously is desirable to allow a user to navigate from the French article about the fruit to any other language article that covers that fruit, regardless if that article happens to cover the plant as well. — Sebastian 20:06, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- The french article is "doing it by hand", the way it was done before wikidata, and the end of the article in french, it has [en:Blackcurrant]] [[es:Grosella negra]] [[ja:黒すぐり]]. the Wikidata entry apparently has the english, spanish and japanese articles as well as fr:Ribes nigrum. Given that French splits it, unless the other languages do as well, I believe that is a quite reasonable way to do it.Naraht (talk) 20:37, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks, I didn't notice that they did it by hand there. That answers questions 1 and 2.
- So, do I understand you correctly that that's the best we can do? It doesn't show all the other links, and I don't think it would make sense to have only the most common languages. For instance, if Occitan gets a corresponding article, it would be useful for users of the French Wikipedia if they knew about it. Is there no way to allow that, say, with something like a redirect? — Sebastian 20:47, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Corresponding article to which? Cassius or Ribes Nigrum?Naraht (talk) 22:02, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Either, or both, it doesn't matter. The plant and its fruit are obviously closely connected; it will hardly be a problem to talk about both in the same article. That's in all likelihood what a small Wikipedia like that for Occitan would do. — Sebastian 01:43, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- My question is actually very general. It's neither limited to blackcurrants, nor to any language. It's simply: When an article A in one language corresponds to articles B and C in another, is there any way to use Wikidata (rather than the "by hand" approach) to link from B to A and from C to A? (With symbols: B←→A and C→A.) — Sebastian 02:00, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- No. That is one of the severe limitations of Wikidata. It is a frequent problem, as there is often not a one-to-one mapping of article subjects from one language's Wikipedia to another. --David Biddulph (talk) 04:00, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, that resolves the help desk issue. I presume there must already be a Phabricator ticket, given that it's a frequent problem. Is it this one: phab:T54564? — Sebastian 07:23, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Help with Gwen Stefani "Used to Love You" page

Above is link of page I am having an issue with.
I have repeatedly tried, both logged in and out, to add necessary information about the song that is missing (also giving sources), but it has been repeatedly removed. Could someone assist?
Here is what I am trying to edit on the page:
Under list of songwriters, the songwriter Teal Douville is missing from the list.
To verify this claim here is a link to the official song info from Warner Chappell Publishing: http://www.warnerchappell.com/song-details/WW010528486000
As you can see, Teal Douville is listed as a writer on the song.

Automated archiving of Wikipedia namespace page
Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Map workshop has become too large and although archives were previously made, I think it has now ceased. The archive histories would appear to show it was done manually as it was not by a bot. Ideally I would like topics marked with resolved or stale to only be archived, as some very old topics are still being worked on. I appreciate any help or a point in the right direction. Jolly Ω Janner 05:05, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- Philg88 (and others) have been archiving this manually, on a somewhat irregular basis, since January 2014. Perhaps they can chime in as to the reason. The bot's (User:DyceBot) page still appears to list archiving of this page as one of its functions, perhaps its owner, Dycedarg can take a look as well. If they don't see this, asking on their respective talk pages would be a good first step. OTOH, I don't see why you couldn't just do a manually archiving pass now, assuming Philg88 can't do it at the moment.. Rwessel (talk) 06:25, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping Rwessel. I do sporadically try and tidy up the page and will try to spend more time on it. AFAIK a bot can't archive the page because of the complexity of the date analysis required. Unfortunately, many requesters do not mark their entries as resolved and there are many things that prima facie appear "stale" but actually aren't. Note that there is also a convention that resolved requests are left for a month before archiving. As I say, I will try and keep a closer eye on things. Philg88 ♦talk 07:39, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
