WikiCup 2016: Game On!
We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.
We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:03, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 30, 2016
I tweaked this one a little from the TFAR version; how does it look? Two questions: was this one of the first library-building, literary, debating, or scientific societies in the country? (I see the sources aren't online.) Also, did the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind move in when it was first founded in 1870, or later? - Dank (push to talk) 00:33, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- Dank, thank you for your attention to this TFAR. According to the offline sources cited, the society was the first organization of its kind in the present-day state of West Virginia, and one of the first in the United States, which I would assume would mean it was first library/literary society/debating society/scientific society. All the sources say specifically "of its kind." The society donated its Romney Classical Institute campus to the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind. The state accepted the donation, and the school opened at the society's former campus in September 1870. Let me know if you require any additional information. -- West Virginian (talk) 15:52, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Precious again, your "literary society that shaped the cultural development of a rural region of Virginia (and later West Virginia) during the 19th century ... the most comprehensive article in existence illustrating the society's activities and history"!

Welcome back!
Welcome back! I hope your wiki-break was a good one. A few months ago, I nominated Sonam Kapoor for FA (in which you provided input), but it was not promoted due to some concerns regarding its prose and neutrality. Would you kindly post comments, again on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Sonam Kapoor/archive2? I would appreciate the help. -- Frankie talk 20:38, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Literary Hall
Hi, there! I wrote the article Briarcliff Farms, and submitted it to FAC, where it didn't receive enough attention in time. I recently renominated it, and would really like if you could make comments. In turn, I'd like to review your FAC, in a quid pro quo manner. Thanks so much. ɱ (talk · vbm · coi) 01:18, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Naming customs in the south
Hello, West Virginian -- I'm glad to see you've resumed editing after your wiki-break. I was just reading a comment on another editor's talk page, and I thought you might be able to help. It's this discussion: User talk:Yngvadottir#"Middle name". Yngvadottir mentioned naming customs in the southern part of the U.S., and the need for sources, and you're the only editor I know of who knows anything about the south. I know it's not your area of interest, but I thought if you had time, you might be able to help the editor who posted the original question there and may be willing to work on that article.
