Agassiz is an impact crater on Mars, named in honor of geologist Louis Agassiz(1807–1873). The crater is 108.77 kilometres (67.59 mi) in diameter and is located at 271.1°E 69.8°N. The name was approved in 1973 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN).[3]
