'''Route 47''' is a State_highway in New_Jersey, United_States. It runs 75.19 miles from Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood to U.S._Route_130 in Brooklawn. It is also referred to as '''Delsea Drive''', as at one time it was the main route connecting the ''Del''aware River to the ''sea''. This name was assigned by the New_Jersey_Legislature in 1933.
Route 347 is a bypass to the part of Route 47 that runs through Delmont. The alignment of Route 347 is preferred to Route 47, and therefore gets the majority of traffic flow. Because of this, Route 47 northbound has been truncated and must utilize a connecting road at its northern intersection with Route 347. Traffic must make a right, then another left to continue on Route 47 northbound.
Traffic jams along Route 47 are commonplace in the summer vacation season and can stretch for miles due to the missing southern section of Route 55, where all shorebound traffic enters the small two-lane road.
==History==

Prior to the 1953 renumbering, the Route 47 and Route 49 designations were switched south of Millville. Route 47 continued east along what is now Route 49 to a junction with Route 50 in Tuckahoe.
What is now Route 47 was part of Route 49 north of Dennis, and '''Route S49''' south of Dennis to its terminus.
