Hi Taketa, the source I have says that those statistics are for White and Black women in general, not just in America. What source are you working from? I'm happy to send you what I'm working with if you want. Best, Keilana|Parlez ici 21:01, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Rijksmonumenten
Hi Taketa
I noticed that you are active in creating and improving Dutch Rijksmonument articles. Great -- I don't find the time but would love to do more.
A while ago I created a template Rijksmonument that creates a small info box which automatically links through to the Monumentregister. The template is fairly simple to add as it goes {{Rijksmonument|MONUMENT NUMBER}}. Applying the template systematically has a few advantages. If websites of the register change, a change to the template should solve it for all. The What is linking here overview of the template gives an overview of all Monuments in Wikipedia. So please consider using it. All the best Arnoutf (talk) 16:52, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Arnoutf, I had noticed the template and had considered using it but decided not to because I did not see the purpose at the time. I will consider using it in my future works. All the best, Taketa (talk) 17:11, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

The fact that this editor has not edited in four years does not mean that he does not exist. Or am I missing something? Unless I am, the speedy tags on his pages, which I have removed and you replaced, are not appropriate.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:35, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- Created by another user, as you say, who made a number of edits but nothing since 2010. I think that the other, empty account was made in error; my apologies for arguing the point. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:44, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Thank you. --Kanashimi Hyoketsu 03:03, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Kanashimi, I am checking everyones activity, and you are very active. Because you are very active, I made your name bold on the Norwegian-to-English section. translation of a dutch sentence
Your user name is in the list of wp:Translators available#Dutch to English. I wonder if you can help me with a translation of the following sentence to English: "Er is nooit een artikel van mij gepubliceerd in een scientific tijdschrift." thanks.
I do not want to waste your time, but if you would like to hear about the background, here it is. The sentence source is an interview with Norman Finkelstein in a dutch newspaper. I added a translation of this sentence to his article, but 3 different users claims that the translation is wrong. When asked what is the problem they do not reply. So it is stuck. Ykantor (talk) 13:04, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Ykantor, your translation is correct. I have had a look at the article. I think the main problem is context. You put the text in the article a bit weird. A single sentence quotation, which cannot be understood without context, is not a good way to start a section. It does not make sence without a bit more sentences around it to explain the situation. The situation is explained afterwards, so maybe find a different spot to put it, more at the end of the scientific career section, after all the conflicts have been explained. Or maybe somewhere in the middle with some extra text. All the best, Taketa (talk) 14:33, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
-
- It is not true that no-one has replied to Ykantor's query. There has in fact been several hundred words of discussion on this very point. I would appreciate it if, rather than simply stating "your translation is correct", you could offer your own translation of this sentence, to help resolve the ambiguities. Thanks. RolandR (talk) 16:37, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
-
- As literal as possible: "Never has an article of mine been published in a scientific magazine." All the best, Taketa (talk) 16:51, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry to persist on this, but the tense really matters here. Does the Dutch translation of his statement (presumably originally in English) quote him as saying that no article of his has ever at any time in the past been published in a scientific magazine, or that no article of his is ever now published? You comment above that the context is the main problem, and this ambiguity reflects that. Also, since he is a historian, what do you understand by the word "wetenschappelijk"? Is it "scientific", as we would use the term in English, or is it broader: scholarly, acadenic or similar? Many thanks. RolandR (talk) 21:50, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, taking the paragraph the sentence is in as background. He states how he is treated in the United States academic circles/environment if one critices Israel like he did in his work "Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict". Everything else in the paragraph is about how he is treated in the United States. The "er" in the sentence can both refer to the United states or be meant in general, I cannot be sure. A few sentences before he says he has never been able to get a job, this is clearly an exageration, and the never been published may be the same; never been published in any prominent journals. You ask whether "wetenschappelijk" in this case is "scientific". I believe he means scientific journals, but then again, from this paragraph I do not have enough context to be sure. You asked for the tense is this case, this is never ever. All the best, Taketa (talk) 22:26, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- It's still unclear. Does the sentence say "I have never ever been published" (which would be untrue), or "I am never ever published"? The difference, in terms of the overall meaning of the statement, is immense; it is the difference between "My work is too insignificant to publish" and "I am paying the price for my views". RolandR (talk) 02:07, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
- The sentence says "I have never ever been published". Even if it is untrue, it is what it means. This is very clear in Dutch because it says "is nooit", the other meaning it would have been "wordt nooit". As you can see he also said he has never ever been able to get a job, which is obviously untrue. (Possible interpretations:) His intend may be an exageration, a certain type of job and a certain type of scientific journal. It could also be that he is referring to a past period in which his statements were true, but that his current situation, at the time of the quote, is better. However it would be an implied meaning from the context and not a literal meaning of what he says. All the best, Taketa (talk) 07:23, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

I am not a marter, says Finkelstein, when he fears he is creating that impression. "Every five year old Palestinian boy that throws a stone at an Israeli soldier has more courage then me. But if you want to know how you get treated in the American academic environment, if you criticise Israel, like I did in Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict then this is it: I have never been able to get a job. On Hunter I am an adjunct-teacher, which is as much as an elevatorboy. My income is between 15.000 and 18.000 dollar, far below the poverty line. "If this appartment looks nice, it is because the furniture from my parents is still there. They both died in 1995, I was already living in their house. I could make a clean start and throw out all furniture, or leave it like it is. I left it like it is, that was also a way to process it. "I was one time invited for a solicitation interview, at the university of San Francisco, a small Jesuit college. Never has an article of mine been published in a scientific magazine. On Hunter I am never allowed to give a college about the extermination of the Jews, only about the history of the political theory. I also rarely teach during daytime, mostly in the evening. I have payed my due.
I hope this helps. All the best, Taketa (talk) 22:38, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the translation. User:RolandR is one of those 3 users that claimed that the translation is wrong but have not said what is wrong. However, the secret is exposed here. He apparently wants the translation to be "I am never ever published" rather than your translation "Never has an article of mine been published in a scientific magazine".
