Replaced several sections
In this edit MediaWiki message delivery overwrote several sections of my talk page when delivering a message. --LukeSurl t c 10:57, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi LukeSurl. You basically hit the same issue as Elvey which I've explained here. I fixed your talk page with this edit. This edit is the one that introduced the unclosed {{. Hope that helps. --MZMcBride (talk) 05:16, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
<merged with above section>
As with LukeSurl, message delivery on my talk page disappeared several sections. I assume this is a bug with MediaWiki message delivery. Please help get it fixed. and... kudos and thanks for your many contributions. Anyone looking into it? --Elvey(t•c) 16:48, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. Yes, I looked into it. My reply is here. In short: not a MassMessage issue. :-) --MZMcBride (talk) 05:07, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

- My goal was just to prevent lots of future problems with a tool that gets used a lot and I (mistakenly) thought had a new bug likely to cause widespread damage, some of which would go unnoticed, even if only a small fraction of its edits were doing damage like what resulted on my and LukeSurl's pages. Also, no one had initially responded to LukeSurl's message for several hours, or mine, so I felt it appropriate to wave a flag, so to speak, 23 hours after the edits had been made, which was (too?) effective. Anyway, I see the problem in both cases was mismatched curly braces. Perhaps User:A930913's User:BracketBot should be directed at draft mass messages. The documentation shows no way to opt a page in to BracketBot, only a way to opt mainspace pages out of it. --Elvey(t•c) 14:18, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Message Delivery
Hi, MediaWiki message delivery. I just want to drop a message that I had just requested for a newsletter of WikiCup but I am late because I requested it on 8th January, 2014. May you please deliver the newsletter to me? Thanks. Dinosaur Fan (talk) 07:17, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Error
I got a double copy of the most recent Signpost newsletter. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I just wanted to let the operator know. Best, SpencerT♦C 10:03, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Account re-name error
I believe that I am the only registered user on Wikipedia with the name, "JayJ47" so I therefore SHOULD NOT have to have my account re-named. A few years back, my account was temporarily re-named "JayJ4721" at my request but I reverted to using "JayJ47" shortly afterwards WITHOUT any problems. I therefore STRONGLY BELIEVE that you have sent me your message in error and ask that you please RECTIFY THIS IMMEDIATELY. JayJ47 (talk) 02:47, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Jay, the message is send to all accounts that do not have a global account yet. Since you had not unified your account you would be renamed if you had taken no action. We cannot know that all accounts are a single person. Now that we do, you will not be effected. You will not be renamed and no further action from you is needed. I apologise for the inconvenience. All the best, Taketa (talk) 05:23, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
Renaming
Can you rename the other account? While I took a long break, I've been on this site since 2003. Why not change the other user named JoeM? I signed up over a decade ago. JoeM (talk) 20:41, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Double news
I guess the bot really wants to ensure that I read the Signpost, because I just got another copy of the April 1 issue. Has this happened to anyone else? --Biblioworm 18:24, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, it happened to me too. Probably just a small error or mistake. smileguy91talk - contribs 21:00, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Or a hilarious APRIL FOOL'S JOKE! --Cyde Weys 00:57, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Wish it was :-); I got two copies last week and three this week, so it's time to let them know. Miniapolis 13:58, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Can you opt out inactive editors?
I visit a lot of user talk pages and I was wondering if there was a way to opt out long-gone users whose talk pages are just a list of Signpost and newsletter messages. I'm not talking about editors who are gone for a few months but those who have been absent a few years (say, inactive since 2012 or 2013) and are clearly not reading these messages. Liz Read!
