The importance of a friendly greeting
Hello and welcome to my talk page. If you want to start a new conversation, please click "New section" at the top of this page. I keep the comments that follow from July and August of 2009 readily visible, because these friendly words of greeting made me feel welcome here on Wikipedia when I first started editing. Please offer your thoughts
I would appreciate comments and suggestions on any contributions I make. I am learning.Cullen328 (talk) 03:22, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Nice work on Jules Eichorn. He's been needing an article for a while. Will Beback talk 06:28, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
-
- If I may suggest, now that you've posted the Eichorn article the draft below might be deleted. It's your talk page to do with as you like, but it's a bit hard to edit around.
- As for formatting and pictures, a good way to learn is to look around at other articles to see what you think looks best. It can be helpful to break up long blocks of text into subsections. Perhaps it'd be possible to split the biography into two or three eras. Other than that, the formatting is usually kept fairly plain. As for photos, it's easy to upload them: the trick is in finding photos with appropriate licensing. If you have any personal photos then those'd be fine. There are might be pictures of the peaks he did first ascents on in the Wikicommons. File:Cathedral Peak.png is a so-so pic of Eichorn Pinnacle.
- As before, feel free to ask if you have any questions. There are several editors here who are mountaineers or just admirers of the Sierra, so you're in good company. Will Beback talk 21:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- PS: Many editors create "sandbox" pages for drafting articles. For example, User talk:Cullen328/Sandbox. Will Beback talk 00:17, 1 August 2009
Your climber biographies
Hey Jim, just wanted to say welcome and thanks for your contributions to the Sierra Nevada climbing history articles. You're filling a niche that's been missing here, I look forward to working with you. --Justin (talk) 11:54, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'll second that. Nice work on Allen Steck and welcome to Wikipedia. I don't know who you are planning to write up next but if your taking requests I think Peter Croft (climber) could really use a page. If you ever have any questions please ask. Thanks again for your great additions.--OMCV (talk) 02:25, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks Justin and OMCV. I am beginning work on Tom Frost and Glen Dawson. Comments on Norman Clyde would be welcomed. I will defintely read up on Peter Croft, OMCV. I am still "learning the ropes" in Wikipedia, to use a climbing analogy, and have all sorts of things in mind. My biggest challenge right now is getting permission to use images. My next biggest challenge is hiking to the top of Mt. Whitney with my wife in ten days - she's never been above 12,000 feet except for the train ride up Pikes Peak. As she's 56 and developing arthritis in her toes, it will be an accomplishment if she (and I) complete the Class 1 feat. Jim Heaphy (talk) 02:34, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

good subject for wikipedia?
Dear Jim,
I want to create a wikipedia page about 'EPISTOP'. This is a long-term, prospective study that evaluates clinical and molecular biomarkers for epileptogenesis in a genetic model of epilepsy - tuberous sclerosis complex. This research project is funded by the European Commission through the 7th Framework Programme. My question to you is whether this subject is suitable to be included in the wikipedia encyclopedia.
More information about this project can be found on the website: www.epistop.eu

- Hello Chloë. I am not an expert in evaluating the notability of medical related topics on Wikipedia, which is a very tricky area which requires the highest possible standards to ensure that our readers are not misled in any way. Please read WP:MEDRS to develop an understanding of our standards in the area. In my opinion, our best editor in this field is Doc James. Maybe he can comment or recommend another editor with expertise in this area. I encourage you to contribute to Wikipedia, but know when it is best for me to defer to the expertise of other editors I trust. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:36, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hum. Not sure. I am finding nothing on pubmed discussing this study. Are there independent sources that discuss this study specifically? Or significant media discussion? There are of course a number discussing this area of research generally.
- Will ask for further opinions at WT:MED Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 12:17, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Dear, The reason why there are no articles published yet, is because the study is currently ongoing. And actually is in its starting phase. Best, Chloë — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chloe.scheldeman (talk • contribs) 16:38, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

- In that case, Chloe.scheldeman, it is too soon for a Wikipedia article about it. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:42, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

- Hello SenatorBF. The first two sources you provided mention her by her married name. Is that the best you've got? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:48, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Jim
I have a problem from the Quebec Department of Justice website. They have broken links.
http://www.justice.gouv.qc.ca/english/publications/generale/sep-div-a.htm
If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and you see this:
• Department of Justice Canada Clicking on this icon will take you to another website.
The registration of a waiver of partition of the family patrimony, of the value of acquests, of community property or to register the cancellation of such a waiver, to register a divorce judgment, the annulment of a marriage or the dissolution of a civil union, a legal separation (or a separation as to property):
• Registre des droits personnels et réels mobiliers
To avoid duplicate proceedings for divorce in different courts across Canada:
• Central Registry of Divorce Proceedings Clicking on this icon will take you to another website. (Department of Justice Canada)
The guide entitled "When a Couple Separates":
Both the Department of Justice Canada and Central Registry of Divorce Proceedings links don't work. I don't know what to tell you except that her ex husband who she is in divorce with is in Quebec and she is in British Columbia where she is now a police officer.
--SenatorBF (talk) 07:03, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
-
- Let me make something clear, SenatorBF. If you can furnish a reliable source that says the marriage is over, then we can include that in the article. I sincerely wish her the very best in her new life and her police career, and do not wish to be unkind to her, or anyone else, in any way. But this is an encyclopedia, and we need reliable sources to report that a marriage has ended. Surely you can see that taking the word of an anonymous source (like you) would open the door to cruel deception by trolls? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:08, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Cullen,
I am a sports agent, with an office here in Los Angeles. I see that you live here in California as well. The principal of my business is to try and make my clients happy. I was asked by Ms Agosta to have her name changed since she has gone through the process. I will have to ask someone else on Wikipedia about this, because she wants this to be removed.
My company is called American Group Management and have been in business since 1996 and represent over 20 Olympic athletes. www.agm.us . There is no point or relevancy to make a change or to troll as you are staying as an anonymous source since on our site with the other athletes we work for it has each of their names on it.

New article
I would like to know if a article i might make will be alright to make. Its about my school Manzanita elementary school. I have lots of information on the topic but they all come from one website and i wanted to know if one source was enough to start an article? Also can i use a yearbook as a referance? i would be very gratefull if you could answer my questions thanks. JrolesGuy (talk) 22:33, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello JrolesGuy. In general, we do not have separate articles about elementary schools, but instead list them in school district articles, or sections of articles about education in cities and towns. Please read WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES for more information. You.May want to consider editing or creating an article about the school district that runs your school.
- An article should be based on coverage in reliable sources. Since the guideline says "sources" in the plural, there should be more than one. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:25, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

request for additional on article
Cullen328:
Have taken an exploratory step or two, in particular was able to contact Plasmic Physics on the "Methyl Radical" article and he said he thought he had made the statement and added some reference to his statement so that was good for both me and the next user, but would now like to make another request to a different article "Electromagnetic Spectrum" and do not know how to make a request to the general supporting sudience. So perhaps you could lead the way. The request is for the article "Electrtomagnetic Spectrum", that someone add an additional scale to the second graphic, a scale for electron-volts, eV or KeV, in addition to the Frequency and Wavelength Scales. Am I on track here in my approach?
Hello Jim,
Reading the Wiki section on POV, NPOV disputes, I realize I need to be sure what I have written is formulated correctly and used with the proper tag. There is much Wiki documentation in this regard. After reading it, I'm not sure whether to use the POV or NPOV tag at the head of the page. Since the Exeter Wiki page problem deals with breakage of NPOV Wiki guidelines, omission of facts, etc. I am thinking the NPOV tag would be best. I was wondering if this is correct and you concur. Also, when should I place the NPOV tag on the main Exeter_incident page, and exactly where on the page?
If you can, I'd appreciate it if you would take a look at several paragraphs I placed on the Exeter incident talk page , and possibly make any suggestions you think are appropriate to both formulating my concerns, and drawing other editors (including fringe area adjudicators) into a discussion concerning those things. Is it detailed enough? Anything else I should be doing to conform to Wiki guidelines?
Thanks in advance for your time and expertise.--Rjc1 Respectfully 14:26, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Conduct issues
A user keeps inserting "(Really?)" into my thread title even after reverting him. See diff1 and diff2. How do I handle this?VictoriaGraysonTalk 01:47, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
- The first step in such situations, VictoriaGrayson, is to let the other editor know that you do not appreciate such behavior, and ask them to stop. Their talk page is the best place for that. Always conduct yourself politely as the "better person" in such situations. I am not explaining any official policy so much as offering my personal advice to you, as just another editor. If you have further problems with the other editor, please feel free to let me know. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:12, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Problem
On an article which I have recently edited, a user disclosed that the article was written with a COI and specifically stated who had (allegedly) done this, through an external link. I thanked the user for sharing that the article was promotional, not neutral and written with a COI without having seen that the external link identified a specific person, instead thinking that it verified that a person close to the subject had done this without identifying them. I apologise for anything I have done wrong, unintentionally. The link identifies the person without verifying it was them. I am not sure if I should disclose the article name but will do so if asked. What should be done about this? Rubbish computer 14:33, 25 May 2015 (UTC) Ping me when you reply to this. Rubbish computer 15:52, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Closely paraphrasing a source is still a copyright violation. Cite your sources as you work so it does not look like original research. And write in a clear neutral English encyclopedic style. Your team, mercilessly deleted the pages created by me last month. Your team didn't have any proper reasoning for this incorrect deletion. At that time, I had mentioned that you and your team have clearly allowed other's fraud pages to survive...and I had provided you few fraud pages too.. One more such a page for you... where were your patrolling team when the page was creating, existing without any reference?

Hello Cullen328, I hope I am not interrupting your vacation again and sorry if I am. Underneath a question I posted at the Teahouse concerning where to find articles with no lead sections (which has been answered), I answered a question. I am aware that competence is required to do this and I would like to know if this answer was sufficient and/or if it would be wise for me to not answer any more. I will take no offence at being advised to not answer questions and if I cannot I may see if I can do so again at a later date, when I have gained further experience. Your help is appreciated, Rubbish computer 15:55, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Rubbish computer, my vacation is over, so no problem. Your Teahouse answer was factually correct, but it would have been a bit more helpful if you had commented specifically on the references in the other editor's draft article. I asked another new user to stop answering questions recently, because they were doing a poor job of it. Just be sure that your answers are correct, friendly and responsive. All will be well. Siskel and Ebert website
My website has been up since January 2011. Roger Ebert has used my site on numerous occasions while he was still with us. We were the first to post his and Siskel's very first show. We do have permission to show the Tribune shows, but I have not gotten a response from either Disney nor WTTW in Chicago about my site in all this time.
Disney decided to take the At The Movie website down after they cancelled the show back in 2010. Roger had always enjoyed the old shows which is why I put them up. Other people have enjoyed them and they still do.
We do not accept any money. I put the site up at my expense! We receive over two million hits a month! Anyone and everyone can watch any of the over 700 shows of Siskel and Ebert we have AT NO CHARGE whatsoever.
My external links on Wikipedia were just a way to enhance the page (slightly) for a particular movie: To let people know that they can watch the review that was discussed within the article. Many times the articles mentions Roger Ebert, but there is no mention of Gene Siskel.
Many of these reviews still exist, and it is a shame that Disney and WTTW in Chicago won't put them up. So, I addressed the problem the best way I could!
SO the bit about my site being dubious in nature was unwarranted. That was assumption based not on facts! Roger Ebert appreciated my site, and he didn't find it dubious!
Yes, keep the external links deleted on Wikipedia to my site! That just indicates to me that the article for any movie was not well researched, since additional information is out there that is purposely being left out on Wikipedia!
Did you guys get special permission from the studios for the movie posters you use for each movie article? - firstmagnitude — Preceding unsigned comment added by Firstmagnitude (talk • contribs) 06:01, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- Your website apparently does not have permission from the copyright holders for people to upload videos there, Firstmagnitude. Whether or not Roger Ebert linked there is irrelevant. You need written permission from the legal copyright holders. Wikipedia has very strict rules forbidding links to copyright violating websites. Plain and simple. All links to your website will be removed from Wikipedia unless you can produce ironclad evidence of copyright compliance. This is not optional and not negotiable. It is mandatory. If you persist in pushing your website on Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. That is a certainty. Stop now. As for your question about movie posters, please read WP:NFCI carefully, especially point #4. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:11, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

- Coincidentally, I am also 63 years old, Firstmagnitude. So what? I am more than happy to be polite with you once you stop spamming links to your copyright violating website into Wikipedia, once and for all. Warnings for copyright violations are not intended to be polite, and they must be unambiguous and clear cut. Failure to root out copyright violations is a grave legal threat to Wikipedia, and I am obligated to be diligent on the matter, and I will. Please read and study WP:COPYVIO. Olive Branch from mikesmithonepercenter
Hello Jim,
I get the impression that you and Mike Smith got into it over edits to the page on the Twin Peaks incident in Waco.
Let me preface the following remarks by saying that he's an older gent who lived the life for a long time and has an incredible amount of firsthand knowledge of the subject matter.
That said, read if you will, he asked that I relay a message on his behalf:
"Dear Sir:
Let me apologize for the problem to start with.
Let me also deny using an alternate IP Address to further evade the controls. I honestly do not have that kind of technical training.
I tried to use the Talk Page and I read the self help article on it. For some reason I just have not been able to figure it out.
I tried sending an email and it was 'throttled" for spam? These two emails are the firs that I have ever sent.
Being locked out and not being able to present my case irritated me."
I trust the man and I hope you will set aside any ill feelings toward him. His perspective may not fit anyone's ideological template on the matter, but that goes with the territory. He has a tendency to be acerbic and assertive, but that is a function of his age as much as anything else.
Best Regards,
Russ Hardin

If he agrees not to be disruptive, I will teach him the "rules of the road" here on Wikipedia. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:59, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
Teahouse 2
I've answered a question at the Teahouse, second from the top as of 23:11 UTC, and edit conflicted in the process. Should I attempt to avoid edit conflicting, and are my answers rubbish? Sorry, I just need to know. Rubbish computer 23:12, 3 June 2015 (UTC) It's okay, I'm terrible at it, I'll stop. Rubbish computer 00:08, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
- You are not terrible and you show potential. But you need to limit yourself to situations where you are 99+% sure of the correct information. If you say something incorrect, you can remove it if you are prompt. But once someone else comments (as in this example), leave your answer alone (except for correcting minor typos). It is jarring to see a reply to a comment that has been removed. Better to apologize, or strike through the comment in such a situation. Do not be discouraged. Keep learning. Our policies and guidelines are complex. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:19, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

I thought it was bizarre and wrong to answer questions there if you only picked certain questions but this is actually what I've wanted to do all along. Thank you. Rubbish computer 00:25, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
- Rubbish computer, I think I am either the first or the second most active of the Teahouse hosts, and I consciously decide not to answer questions all the time. I have never answered a template editing question, because I don't have any idea how to edit templates and am not interested in learning. Develop and strengthen your own core competencies and leave the other matters to people whose skills are in that area. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:33, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Peer review/Citizen Kane/archive2 invite
Hello. Found you through Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Participants#American cinema. Would you consider commenting at Wikipedia:Peer review/Citizen Kane/archive2? It was at the backlog for almost a month without any response. Though I've joined it, I'm largely unfamiliar with American drama films in general. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:30, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Is it possible
Is it possible to completely delete user names like this. I found it after checking this ref to check if the user would be able to remove recent vandalism. I didn't like the association of user names and wondered what further might be done. GregKaye 07:21, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- I do not know but also do not care that much. I pretty much consider it a badge of honor if I am attacked by a deranged troll every once in a while. I have seen this "mensch" around previously, and it is like water off a duck's back to me. Thanks for caring enough to ask, though, GregKaye. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 08:30, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks!
I've finally figured out that pesky templates thing, thanks to you! :-D
But (there's always a but) when I do this template:
The whole thing doesn't show. I tried it out in my sandbox 1st. It just says it has multiple issues instead of listing them all as it shows on the template pg where I got the code. (Of course I forgot to bookmark the pg.) I was doing some historical research (mining references can sometimes strike gold, so I was disappointed at the lack of them) & wanted to toss that template up on a bio of a dead person that has about 3 footnotes, all from the same biography book (which I own), & really needed better sourcing. Sorry to keep poking you on things that are 2nd nature to more experienced editors, but this Wikicode drives me nuts sometimes! ScarletRibbons (talk) 11:12, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello @ScarletRibbons:, in order to display multiple issues with this template, you need to separately write the issue templates underneath as you would normally, then put }} at the end. For example, if a page needed more references and was written like an advertisement, you could put this at the top;
{{Multiple issues| {{Refimprove|date=June 2015}} {{Advert|date=June 2015}}}}
to display this;
I hope this helps. Rubbish computer 15:27, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello again, should I gain more experience of answering questions before officially becoming a host or just do it now? Thanks, Rubbish computer 15:42, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- Rubbish computer, that is a decision that you need to make. Only days ago, you were concerned about your abilities. So become a host at the Teahouse when you are confident that you will do it well, answering questions accurately the vast majority of the time. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:00, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I wasn't worried if I just became a Host someone say I should leave it for a bit or ask around first. I will most probably be doing this soon. Thanks, Rubbish computer 18:44, 6 June 2015 (UTC) I'll answer some more first when I see questions I like... I think I'll leave it a bit as I keep changing my mind. Sorry if I sound like I'm having a conversation with myself. Rubbish computer 18:48, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Your selfie in Czech Wikipedia
I clicked your Teahouse host photo File:Self portrait July 2012.jpg and noticed Global file usage. Did you know that the Czech Wikipedia displays you at cs:Selfie#Galerie? Google Translate says the caption "Selfie staršího muže" means "Selfie older man". The photo was added in [1] with caption "selfie starého muže" meaning "selfie old man". I don't have a problem with the photo being used as a selfie example but I thought you should know if you don't already. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:17, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello PrimeHunter. I added my selfie to Selfie a couple of years ago, making the point in a talk page message that the phenomenon didn't involve only attractive young females. Unsurprisingly, my photo was removed in short order. Who wants to look at an old guy with white hair? I guess the answer is: the Czechs! Thanks for noticing. Unanswered
There are questions at the Teahouse that have been there long enough to be featured on the front but have no answers, I am not an ideal person to answer these questions myself. What should I do? In case you would be good at answering them or didn't know they were left blank they are; Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Public Domain and Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Need help on phrasing a statement. I removed a third question from here as it has now been answered. Rubbish computer 16:57, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Rubbish computer. I had no internet access for several hours last night and am working right now. I will take a look at the Teahouse when I have a chance. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:24, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

REEDS POINT MONTANA
hi Cullen - there is a book on Reeds Point and I'm sure it's in there...I had a copy of it, but beings it wasn't my hometown, I gave it to a friend.... Sorry I don't have time to look it up.... I'm very busy being a journalist as it is...Oh well - the answer my friend is blown in the wind.... How do you explain a rainbow to a blind person....? best regards anyway - ( there's a lot in print these days that isn't true, and to be honest with you, I have absolutely no cause to make this up.... ) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.174.166.125 (talk) 04:46, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
- Once you get your book back from your friend, then look it up in the book and cite it properly. Until then, it does not belong in Wikipedia. If you do not have time to look it up, then you do not have the time to add it to Wikipedia properly. No one is saying that you made it up, but rather that you have not yet cited it properly. This is an encyclopedia, not a family memories blog. That's how we roll. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:52, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello again and sorry to keep asking you questions. I would like to become a Host but if I click on it I get this;
- Use an image to represent yourself, we prefer images of real people to convey the feeling of a populated, friendly community space
I am not willing to put an image of myself on Wikipedia; I assume pictures of real people means pictures of the Hosts rather than pictures of some random people. Rubbish computer 18:06, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Rubbish computer. Look at the images that other hosts use. A few (like me) use portraits, but many use cartoon images or other things. Pick something that you like. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:40, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Loganair Flight 670A
Hi Jim, You were very helpful once and I'd like to request your assistance again. I've done a little work on this article and would like to advance it beyond it's current Stub rating. I'll do what is required if you can point me in the right direction. Samf4u (talk) 02:45, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- This article is already way better than stub rating, so I changed it to start rating. Perhaps an editor experienced with aviation crash articles can assign a higher level. If you are looking to write an air crash article, please consider the death of Bill Graham (promoter). I witnessed the aftermath of that crash and drive by the crash site regularly. Take care, Samf4u. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:06, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
New article because old one deleted
I was wondering if it was possible to create a new article on a subject that was previously taken down by Wikipedia. The article was taken down because an editor was posting wrong information; information contradictory to what was already in the article. Is is possible to write the same article again with different content? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mahima711 (talk • contribs) 14:11, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Mahima711. An editor posting wrong information is not a valid reason to delete an article about a notable topic, so something else might be going on. Instead, the false information would simply be removed. If there are persistent efforts to create an article that doesn't comply with our policies, sometimes the topic is "salted", which means that creating a new article on the topic is blocked unless an administrator agrees to lift that block. This is relatively rare, though, and in most cases, a new article can be created as long as it complies with our policies and guidelines. Please be aware that it is likely that several experienced editors have your topic on their watch lists. Expect scrutiny if you write a new article. Good luck. The death of Bill Graham
Hi Jim, If you have time can you take a look at this. I could go with the current article name or "The Death of Bill Graham" or maybe "Bill Graham helicopter accident". Also do you think reference #3 is ok? Thanks, Samf4u (talk) 19:05, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
- I've been changing some references. The one in question is Blair’s Golden Road Blog - Bill Graham: 20 years Gone. Samf4u (talk) 19:20, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
- Very well done, Samf4u! As for Blair, he wrote a biography of Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, who were very close to Bill Graham. And the blog is certainly popular and respected among their fans. But I am inclined to try to find better sources, especially for the gruesome claim about the bodies falling to the ground. The other substantive comment that I have is that I would downplay the "Vallejo" location. Vallejo is a city with clearly defined boundaries, and the area to the west is unpopulated wetlands. I know this area very well. Vallejo may be the closest city, but Sonoma and Novato are almost as close. The main point is that the crash site is over six miles west of Vallejo, and that six mile stretch is uninhabited wetlands. No one who knows the area would say "I am in Vallejo" when passing that site. As for the title, I favor "Bill Graham helicopter crash". Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:18, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Private Press
Hi Jim thank you for your prompt reply. Yes the same terminology applies in New Zealand. All the universities which have private presses also have presses :) that is, a publishing "business". I think in that context you're probably suggesting improving the Private Press article overall, as well as add the New Zealand references. Which is fine :) Elucidata (talk) 04:04, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Elucidata. I am unaware of U.S. universities that have two separate publishing arms, one called a "University press" and one called a "Private press". However, I am not an expert so I could be wrong. In my experience, any publishing operation which is formally affiliated with a university is called a "University press", while a "Private press" is a venture by one or more individuals to publish high end books as an avocation or a hobby, as opposed to a fully commercial venture. Of course, the lines can be blurry, and a very successful private press is hard to distinguish from a smaller commercial press. Just my thoughts, for whatever it is worth. - At the University of Otago there is this - http://www.otago.ac.nz/library/specialcollections/#bibarchive, and also this - http://www.otago.ac.nz/press/. Elucidata (talk) 06:30, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello again, Elucidata. Your first link looks to me to be a standard list of a university library's special collections. I do not see what that has to do with a "Private press". The second link is to the website of a typical University press. Am I missing something? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:40, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
