Chicken Tonight is a subbrand of Unilever's Knorr brand (launched in the US on October 23, 1990, and the UK and Australia in 1993) of sauce intended to be added to chicken pieces in a skillet, available in flavors such as Honey & Mustard, Country French and Thai Green Curry. The product was marketed in America as part of the Ragú line of sauces[when?].
The associated advertising slogan is "I feel like Chicken Tonight". In one series of television ads, these words were sung by actors as they 'flapped' their arms in a movement similar to the Chicken Dance.
The American version of the product quickly failed[when?]; however, it is still sold in Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, where there exist spin-off products such as "Beef Tonight", and more recently "Sausages Tonight".
In the UK, there were commercials for Chicken Tonight featuring Arsenal legend Ian Wright[when?].
An advertisement for Chicken Tonight was the first in the UK to use a red button interactive service to promote the product. [1]
Parodies
The slogan was parodied in a skit on the Australian television series The Late Show with "Dickhead Tonight", where people danced while singing "I Feel Like a Dickhead Tonight". The dance and song were parodied by The Simpsons family in the episode "Lady Bouvier's Lover."
