Sue Hammell is the current MLA for Surrey-Green Timbers in the Canadian province of British Columbia. She was elected to the Legislative Assembly in the 1991 election and re-elected in 1996, but was defeated in the 2001 election. She returned to the Assembly by winning the riding in the 2005 election.
She is a member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party. Hammell has once again been nominated by the NDP to contest the May 2009 British Columbia provincial election in the Constituency of Surrey-Green Timbers.
On May 12 2009, Sue Hammell won with the largest margin of support in BC out of 85 ridings with 72.7% making Sue Hammell the most supported MLA in the province voted by her constituents.
