Joe Prunty is an assistant basketball coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA.
Early career
Born in Sunnyvale, California, Prunty attended Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and went on to graduate in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in Speech Communications from Cal Poly Pomona. He began his coaching career in San Diego, California at University of San Diego High School and St. Augustine High School.[1]
NBA coaching career
In 1996, Prunty joined the coaching staff of the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant video coordinator, eventually being promoted to assistant coach in 2002.[1] In 2005, he joined the coaching staff of the Dallas Mavericks. In 2008, he joined the coaching staff of the Portland Trail Blazers.[2]
Prunty served as the Blazers' head coach during the NBA Summer League in 2008 and 2009.[2]
