The A170 is an A road in North Yorkshire, England. It begins at Thirsk, spouting off from the A19 road. After about 5 miles (8.0 km) it enters the North York Moors National Park and the Hambleton Hills and reaches the very steep viewpoint Sutton Bank after a steep climb, before passing through the small town of Helmsley; the B1257 splits from the road after joining it at Sproxton. It continues on its way east past Beadlam, Wombleton and Kirkbymoorside before reaching the town of Pickering and meeting the A169 about 10 miles (16 km) on. It then leaves the North York Moors National Park to join its final destination which is Scarborough.
