- Code letter: F
- This user has began editing in July, back when some other socks of NisarKand where banned. He stopped editing on July 11. Came back, and moved the Tajiks article to Tajooks and Tajuks. NisarKand has mocked the word Tajik before, see his other sockpuppet usernames before such as User:Tajik Is A Rat, User:Taikai, User:Tajik the Wounded and Sick Rat. He then reappeared today. Once again this user is editing Pashtun related articles just like NisarKand and all of his socks. But the main thing that gives it away is him mocking the Tajik ethnic group by moving the article to Tajooks (see here).

- The user who filed this report is the banned User:Beh-nam using IP to evade indef block [1], making racial jokes involving death [2], vandalise pages and more... just check his few recent edits, espcially the one he left on my talk page. vandalise pages -- (talk) 02:13, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

- Also, Code letter E, depending on which accounts, if any, are socks.
- See also: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive335#Linking to external harassment
Sfacets was blocked several times in the last month, and a couple of these accounts became active (or reactivated) during his blocks. He recently added a note saying that he may use socks.[4] Sfacets apparently lives in Melbourne, Australia, but also travels, including to Europe. Try-the-vibe, Teamantime, and 121.210.52.44 appear to be the same person, and may be the puppet master of the oter accounts. The other IPs and accounts are harder to discern. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 00:01, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Will Beback also thought I might be Sahaj Hist on another occasion. Which evidence are you providing Will? A link to my block log? The note on my Userpage says that I may or may not use socks. Sfacets 06:27, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- This is an illegitimate case - no link to any closed arbitration committee case (F) and no links to four or more diffs showing the 3RR violation (E). Sfacets 06:41, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
-
- I don't recall ever confusing Sfacets and Sahajhist, but since the accounts edit the same articles with the same POV it would be easy to do. Regarding this RfCU, the reason is "evasion of community-based bans or blocks", and I have linked the block log as proof of five blocks on the last month. As for the 3RR, two of those blocks were for 3RR, and the same user made numerous other reverts during that period. If any of these are his socks, they'd probably involve at least another 3RR. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 18:28, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
How is that evidence? Please read the guidelines on how to correctly submit a checkuser case. Sfacets 04:21, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
The harassment and bad-faith accusations continue. While I won't comment on the possible motivations behind this RCU, WIll Beback's history of edits concerning me can give a prety clear picture of what is going on. Sfacets 05:17, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yogasun and Simon Dikon Montford Mardini are Unrelated.
- Windinthetrees, MonitorMan, and Try-the-vibe are Unlikely to be Sfacets.
- Teamantime is Possible to be Sfacets.
- No comment on the IPs since none of the connections are strong enough to justify a statement on them.
- Confirmed that WikiPossum = Sahajhist = MonitorMan (but not likely to be Sfacets)

- So I was just changing my much-too-wellknown user ID to a new one and I get caught up in this. Yuk. For the time being I'm back to Sahajhist. Anyone care to advise on how to change in a legit way? 15:08, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Apparently anyone can ask for a checkuser now, without any evidence whatsoever. Nice. Why was MonitorMan blocked? SahajHist, you could place the {{unblock|your reason here}} template on MonitorMan's userpage and explain the situation there... The account MonitorMan has only been active since the 6th December. Sfacets 20:11, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- MonitorMan became active in November. Sahajhist was using multiple accounts in a manner that abused the rules on sock puppets. The blocking admin was gracious enough to mnot also bock Sahajhist's main account. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 21:25, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
-
- MonitorMan made one edit in November. Perhaps SahajHist didn't know the rules on Sockpuppets - he states above that he wished to change accounts, but isn't sure how to do so. Sfacets 22:03, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Using multiple accounts is not typically a problem. Using multiple identities to revert to each other, as happened on November 12 at Sahaja Yoga, however, is a problem. That is why the decision to identify them was made. Now, if you would like to debate the merit of any administrative action taken as a result of these findings, take it to a proper noticeboard or talk page, not here. Dmcdevit·t 22:31, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
No evidence was provided to justify a checkuser for these editors/accounts. In this case the requestor (Will Beback) should have:
- Provided a link to any closed arbitration committee case (F)
and
- links to four or more diffs showing the 3RR violation (E)
I did point this out above.
It is clear that Sahajhist is not familiar with Wikipolicies, so one or two transgressions should be permitted per Wikipedia's "assume good faith" policy. Will Beback is using this illegitimate request (which was granted) to smear the editor's name. I will take this no further, this is just for the record. Sfacets 22:42, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

- Supporting evidence: Similar vandalism warnings received about either Nantes or Broken Sword: 3 (deleted) warnings, A further 3 (deleted) warnings, 4 warnings, 1 warning, 1 warning, 2 warnings, 1 warning.
The problem with an anon user first occured back in July at Nantes, which forced an anon block to be placed on the page. On the same day, Firstwind's account was created. In recent weeks, the problem has resurfaced, with both Firstwind and several other anon IPs forcing a further anon block to be placed on Nantes. Further vandalism has occured at Broken Sword by both Firstwind and these same anon IPs. The user has received a total of 15 warnings at this stage. Schcambo (talk) 14:52, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- What do you need a checkuser for, here? If they're vandalising, they can be blocked. Note that one of the IPs is in Canada and the rest in France; it is impossible that Firstwind is both. --Deskana (talk) 14:17, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
-
- Hi, the problem is that Firstwind edits both logged in and unlogged (even talking to himself, see this edit summary for example : http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Firstwind&oldid=173290963) to pretend he has support for his spam/vandalism edits. When confronted, he denies it and says numerous anonymous users support his "work" (see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mindmatrix&oldid=173312581#Wikipedia_policies). Quick question too if you've got a minute, how can someone get 15 warnings and never get blocked even for a day? Mthibault (talk) 18:14, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- Regarding the IP located in Canada, he/she may have been there at the time, or use an open proxy since edits then made to Nantes are the same as the ones he usually does. Mthibault (talk) 18:22, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- I think perhaps the admins are unwilling to block him quite simply because of this uncertainty over which IP addresses are his and which aren't. In relation to the Canadian IP, I'm quite sure it is his. It was this IP which forced a block on Nantes to beput in place at 10:52 on 1 August last, and then at 20:58 on the same day, Firstwind's account was created, and adopted the exact same style of vandalism on the exact same article. Regarding the other French IPs, there's a strong chance they are also all his, for example one of them even blanked Firstwind's talk page for him. (talk) 19:09, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- The last four IPs are his, yes. Not that it matters; I doubt any admins will block them given that they're no longer active. --Deskana (talk) 13:30, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Firstwind was indeed the only vandal and that all warnings where also his. I'll post at AIV and let an admin decide if this warrants a temp block. Mthibault 19:14, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- That was well over a week ago. --Deskana (talk) 19:29, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sure I'm certainly not advocating blocking the IPs but I think a temp block of his/her user account is warranted, don't you think? Mthibault 19:34, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Firstwind is certainly due for a block of some sort if (s)he continues this behaviour.I don't think blocking the IP addresses is worthwhile, since he'll just skip to a new one. However, Firstwind is on Wikipedia infrequently, so we can currently handle the situation via reversion; if he becomes more persistent, or keeps flouting policy in this way, a block is in his future. From what I can tell, this user has not violated any policy, though their immediately familiarity with Wikipedia processes and protocols raises a serious red flag. Their first edit was a request for unprotection immediately following their new registration. Four days later this user was tagging articles with recentism and submitting images for deletion (with proper rationale rarely seen with new users). While they may be correct in some of their procedural edits, again, this familiarity as a new user seems dubious. Cumulus Clouds (talk) 08:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I've looked into this, and I decided that there exists a legitimate basis for suspicion. Both editors have made many edits to Honour and Passion and other Chinese topics during October 2007, and both have been involved in revert wars. I'm not sure, but it does seem to be worth a look. Shalom (Hello • Peace) 18:22, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, but can you provide so diffs, etc, to back up the claims here? Checkuser is a last-resort measure, really, as it involves personal information so some justification is required - Alison ❤ 23:50, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
-
- On further review, I'll suggest that you decline this request. The two editors have somewhat different styles in approaching Honour and Passion - one make major edits, the other one mostly minor edits. There was one point at which Colourwolf inserted a large block of text, then Besteditorever changed the section headings in the new text twelve minutes later on October 7, 2007. That's the only "suspicious" looking behavior I saw. Both accounts are pretty much inactive. Shalom (Hello • Peace) 18:30, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Blatent addition of false information first by IP - 24.63.6.149, then by user Teddy.Coughlin. It was quite obvious by the style and content of his editing that it is the same person. There is no evidence whatsover that the information this user adds is true, and also the user is consistantly adding incorrect/inaccurate information. The user also repeatably adds the same information over and over again. The times of the edting between the IP address and Username match. Also the editing by this user involves related articles. Apologies for the shoddyness, as this my first attempt at this. 18:30, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

- (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser)
- Code letter: B, G, possible E
Giovanni Giove was few time blocked because of 3RR violations. Recently, he got the ARBCOM penalty (1RR with obligatory explanation on the talkpage, as a result of Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Dalmatia) of limited editing.
These accounts've shown similar interest (Croatian Littoral areas, mostly Dalmatia and persons) as Giovanni Giove, as well as showing similar "knowledge" and propagandist attitudes.
Some of these appeared with same edits (literally same words, attitudes, style and typos, like here [20]) when 3RR violation was about to occur) - like user RomanoDD (Special:Contributions/RomanoDD. He was especially active on 22-27 Apr 2007, with several reverts on article Jakov Mikalja (several times making 2RR on few articles, nigh-on-3RR, cleverly evading 3RR or forcing the opponent to make 3RR violation). That's why is the codeletter E. After 27 Apr 2007, he disappeared, like a forgotten sockpuppet.
User London321 has started an article with the title that was a matter of dispute. Also, that user was active for a while and ...dissappeared, like it's the case with forgotten/used sockpuppets. His contributions Special:Contributions/London321.
Some of these have registered solely for the purpose of support (later, these began to edit, to hide their intentions, like user Cherso. See his edits Special:Contributions/Cherso. He began earlier editing the article, than making a userpage. Also, he's editing like a user who's not a newcomer to Wikipedia. Here, he refers in Italian to Giove [21], expressing him his solidarity ("by us exiled Dalmatians", Giove's favourite topic).
Possibly the latter three are accounts of some previously banned users (user:GiorgioOrsini, user:NovaNova).
Also, there's a possibility that it might be the person with whome problematic user Giovanni Giove and/or banned user GiorgioOrsini are in contact. Though, in that case, it's not possible to do anything, because than it's a 3rd person.
Also, it's possible that Giove, Orsini or their lookalikes act from another computer, from other location (public library, faculty, internet club...). The IP check might not be helpful anymore, but the edit pattern and vocabulary and typos etc. are easy to recognise.
Although I've wrote several times above "forgotten sockpuppet", these aren't necessary "forgotten", but probably "currently inactive", or in "sleep mode", as "reserve accounts". When necessary (a block, or some other need to evade ARBCOM remedy or other wiki-rule), this might woke up.
So, because these accounts are possible candidates for code letter B (and "E"), because they don't have limitation or other remedies issued by the arbitration committee.
Sincerely, Kubura (talk) 10:26, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
More about user Cherso.
This text in edits and pseudoscientific approach is as same as in Giove's edits [22]. Also, "Cherso" defends Giove's contribution (POV) in this change.
Giove must explain his edits, according to ARBCOM. Cherso not. I suspect that Giove uses this account as a sockpuppet, to evade ARBCOM's decisions. Kubura (talk) 10:59, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Things got more serious.
Giovanni Giove recently got a ban from editing Wikipedia [23]. Kubura 09:27, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I've added this IP-address, per [24]. He's banned user, so this'd be reported. On this edit, he signs himself as "Giovanni Giove". Kubura (talk) 09:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Comment: What is this supposed to achieve? London321 (talk · contribs) and RomanoDD ( · contribs) haven't edited since March and April respectively, and are neither blocked nor banned anyway; GiorgioOrsini (talk · contribs) was checkusered below and lives nowhere near Giovanni Giove; Cherso (talk · contribs) was checkusered at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Giovanni Giove (3rd), with a verdict of "unrelated"; and (talk • contribs • info • WHOIS) is quite obviously Giovanni given its edits ("my ban", etc: [25]). – Steel 18:06, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm thinking that this user is a sockpuppet of either Dash Jr (aka PolluxFrost) to harass V-Dash or a sock of V-Dash himself to claim I'm baiting him. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 22:57, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Policy violations are WP:TALK, WP:POV, WP:SOAPBOX, WP:VERIFIABILITY, WP:CIVIL, WP:REVERT, and the list goes on. Basically, these "users" are trying to promote an extremist and racist fringe theory, that Bosniaks are not Slavs but are Illyrians/Scandanavians/Aryans. The "users" show the same knowledge of English language, show the same writing style, and the same typos etc. Also, the two IPs that claim to be different people are obviously not, as they are almost identical addresses. Also this "NeutralBosnia" just showed up out of nowhere one day after one of the IPs got into some arguments. All 3 have the same pattern policy violations, same edit warring, edit the same articles, remove things from talk pages for no reason (vandalism), all three justify their outrageous claims by stating "but Bosniaks aided the Nazis in WW2 so this proves they aren't Slav but Aryan", plus promote hatred of Serbs and other Slavs. This person is trying to show that there are a few people who support this ridiculous theory about Bosniaks, but they are in fact the one editor. I suggest blocking the user "NeutralBosnian" (who clearly isn't neutral) and indef blocking the IPs and any related IPs that just pop out of nowhere promoting the same racist/xenophobic fringe theory. - (talk) 09:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Molag Bal (talk · contribs) was banned from editing Wikipedia over a year ago. After a long string of sockpuppets, he claims (via IRC) to have not created any sockpuppets for many months. After much disruption towards Nishkid64, Martinp23, myself and other editors (including the revealing of personal information) using sockpuppets, and as Mr oompapa (talk • • contribs • count • logs • email) several months back (now a confirmed to be sock of his). However, recently, Redrocketboy (talk · contribs) appeared on 1 December, creating a userpage less than 8 hours before his first edit, he then proceeded to edit articles, indicating a good policy knowledge (despite his account only being 6 days old to date) [55], [56], [57] ; as well as creating several short articles (1 - 2 - 3, etc — one of which is a current DYK candidate). He adds {{blp}} templates to talk pages, despite most new users not knowing about this, and edits Sunderland articles [58], [59], [60], a thing was Molag did commonly. The only thing which would lead me to believe otherwise is the fact this user has a coded signature, which Molag never bothered about. This user also seemed to come straight to my talk page, after being suggested by Anonymous Dissident. It seems rather fishy that a new usr would come across so many users who I'm familiar with in only 5 days of his time, as well as learn policies so well. Qst 18:58, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- I was pointed this out on IRC. Like I say on my page, I'm obviously not brand new. I've simply started up fresh, and wanted to quietly get on with it but now I have to worry about being checked. No, I'm not a banned user, nor have I ever been banned. I'd rather no one knew of my other identitie(s), not even checkusers, who have been known to "out" users unintentionally before. If I am checked, please have the good courtesy to keep the information you get to yourself. You'll find I am completely innocent of this "crime"; I'm simply worried that careless checkusers will out me. Thanks. Redrocketboy 19:14, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- The last confirmed sock was User:The sunder king. The ISP which Molag uses (ask me on IRC for name) uses dynamic addressing, with the IP changing after a re-connection to the DSL service. Thus, the best link that we could expect to get would be that they were on the same ISP. That may or may not be good enough to block - we'd have to see. Martinp23 19:46, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

The above sockpuppets in question edit the article RD Reynolds inserting vandalism in the article as ithe original sockpuppeteer in question User:ECW500.
- edit on RD Reynolds from Barney Rubbleton
- edit on RD Reynolds from Alfonso Tyson
- edit on RD Reynolds from Pebblesmaster
This was recognized after a revert war with editor User:SilentRage and administrator User:Can't sleep, clown will eat me (who blocked all the above sockpuppets) in which potentially WP:BLP-sensitive material was inserted on the article RD Reynolds by SilentRage [61] [62] which led to the protection of the article by Can't sleep, clown will eat me.
This CheckUser is to check three things:
- That the sockpuppeteer of User:Pebblesmaster, User:Alfonso Tyson and User:Barney Rubbleton is indeed User:ECW500, like suspected.
- That there aren't anymore disruptive or potential sleeper accounts of the sockpuppeteer left for inserting vandalism in relevant articles.
- To check whether or not established editor User:SilentRage is connected to the above accounts since all of them have made some rather contentious edits to RD Reynolds article. (considering his activity with the revert warring and inserting potential BLP-violating material). — Save_Us_229 16:56, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I think you are on to something. Can you get this sock puppetry confirmed by a Checkuser, and then block all but the main account? The Checkuser may be able to identify additional accounts not listed here. I have not checked yet, but has this user has been warned not to recreate deleted, non-notable articles, and not to edit with multiple accounts for the purpose of disruption or evading scrutiny? If so, and he has continued to do so, I think a community ban would be appropriate. If he hasn't been properly warned yet, he needs to be told that a ban is the likely outcome if he persists in this disruptive behavior. - Jehochman Talk 15:50, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I understand that it may be a logistical challenge to notify all the accounts. If Checkuser shows them to be the same person, I think that if any one account has been notified previously, or now, that is fair. If the user has created a confusing situation for himself because he's operating so many accounts, in fairness, I think that's his problem, not ours. - Jehochman Talk 16:44, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Cool, good advice. I've told a number of the puppets that recreating the deleted material is inappropriate, but just to be sure I've added a final warning on (what I'm assuming is) the current puppeteer's page to desist. Yeah, this looks like a major headache. The last ten or so accounts are linked by Rafael Trelles, Plasda, and a veiled threat against The Rambling Man ("We believe..." in the edit summary). It's hard to know what's the story with the older editors from February 2007 and even earlier. I don't think there's much to gain from blocking accounts that are already inactive for more than six months. Shalom (Hello • Peace) 18:08, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Layla27 and verified sock puppets were blocked for sockpuppetry. A new sockpuppetry case indicates that the behavior has not subsided. Since an unknown number of sock puppets may be in use a category listing the possible sock puppets has been created: Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Layla27. New entries may be added to this list as new sockpuppets are used (after a previous sock puppet has been blocked). Burzum 07:24, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
All of these accounts are now indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry, but many of them were created in the same period so any remaining unidentified accounts would be able to evade a semi-protection lock. It would be helpful to identify and block any accounts created between 26 November 2007 and now by somebody with matching IPs and if possible to restrict new account creation. One account was created on 18 November 2007, six of these accounts were created on 26 November 2007, and the remaining five were created on 29 November 2007 after the first sockpuppetry case became active. Based on this user's behavior, I think it is likely there are several unused sockpuppet accounts.--Burzum 17:54, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

- Supporting evidence:Komodo lover has become a highly persistent vandal and puppetmaster this year. All of these IPs and usernames are already in KL's suspected or confirmed categories. I think we should formally ban him and his socks as well as his probable meat puppets. I say meats because note that these IPs come from three continents, not likely one person. The Canada may well not be KL or a meat, but the Australia and Netherlands ones seem to be collaborating. I suspect the real KL may be the Netherlands one. I conferred with WJBscribe as well as Lucasfr and both agreed this case should be filed so we can get a better idea of what is going on. I got the IP info from ARIN.net, publicly available information. As RFCU clerk, I'll follow this all the way to archiving. — Rlevse • Talk • 13:53, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- I support the need for some investigation into these editing patterns. The spread of the IPs suggests this is not one user and I am beginning to wonder if some game is being played across these accounts. It would be useful in determining how efforts dealing with these vandals should be focused in the future to know if there are distinct groups at work here or just some element of copycat activity. Finally, there are elements of these accounts' behaviour that lead me to wonder if apparently legitimate accounts are also being run by these users - possibly helping to "detect" their own vandalism. - Sorry to interject here if it's inappropriate or a moot point - but I find it very hard to believe that Iamandrewrice is the original Wiarthurhu (whom I encountered through abusive editing of articles about cars well over a year ago). I suspect that the former picked a sound-alike of the latters name as a sock because of my post here: User_talk:SteveBaker/archive7#OH_MY_GOD.21 in which I related to Iamandrewrice the story of how Wiarthurhu had been indefinitely blocked for behavior not dissimilar to Iamandrewrice's actions. Sadly, this may have been one of those WP:BEANS things. I strongly suspect that Iamandrewrice picked a name that's a lot like Wiarthurhu specifically in order to annoy me and as a direct result of that post. Having battled a ton of nonsense from both Wiarthurhu and Iamandrewrice - I find them to be very different in style and I don't believe they are one and the same person. Furthermore, I encountered Iamandrewrice by chance while attempting to calm a 3RR incident on an article that I patrol for vandalism - but don't contribute to...because it happens to be about a school I attended 40 years ago. There is no way that Wiarthurhu could have known that and set a trap for me to fall into - and the coincidence would be just too strong otherwise. So, no - Wiarthurhu and Iamandrewrice are 99% certain not to be the same person. SteveBaker (talk) 19:30, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello administrators and clerks. A new suspected sockpuppet of Bason0[70] who was named Onlyonlyrules has charged into Liancourt Rocks, and has been blocked indefinitely. Please check some accounts who popped out in Japan/Korea related articles. And if it is confirmed, please block their IPs. Evidences are as follows:
Heinekenbeerlover's first contribution was restoring 774townsclear's edits in Fucking USA.[71][72] In Socotra Rock, he/she restored edits of Yearwaves3.[73][74] Coa4stusual has also restored a paragraph by 774townsclear.[75][76] Moneyisalldesune seems a spa, because his/her first edit is this. This is a behavior which can not usually be expected as a new registered user. And a anon, 210.124.22.42 appeared in the revision history of the RFCU, shows interest to Anti-Americanism in South Korea, in a user's talk page.[77] This behavior connects to Heinekenbeerlover in Fucking USA.
Before, sockpuppets of Bason0 had an edit war with Komdori in Jang Yeong-sil, Science and technology in Korea and so on. So I think that the report is a little tit for tat to him by a new sockpuppet of Bason0. --Nightshadow28 14:09, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

I have noticed that I am being targeted by abusive editors such as Atabek (talk · contribs) who evade dialog and try to impose their opinion forcefully. I regard Grandmaster's motion for checkuser as an act of vengeance and abuse of his administrative privileges aimed at settling scores with editors with whom he disagrees in editorial process. It was brought to my attention that Grandmaster (talk · contribs) has been practicing edit vengeance for a long time, frivolously destroying several accounts this year for no reason other than pushing his often entirely unsubstantiated point of view and keeping honest editors out of Wikipedia. 1. I request the enactment of a disciplinary motion against Atabek (talk · contribs) for not complying with Wiki rules and edit worring. His usual tactic includes responding to requests for factual evidence with irrelevant statements, followed by unwarranted edit cancellations. I suggest to suspend his account for one year. 2. I request the enactment of a disciplinary motion against Grandmaster (talk · contribs) for abusing his administrative powers and edit worring by suspending his account indefinitely, given the long time he has been in practice of his transgressions. Verjakette (talk) 03:55, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
-
- Verjakette, I wonder why would you assume bad faith calling me "abusive editor" without specifically being familiar with my editing activity. Please assume good faith, checkuser is a formal procedure, and it's necessary in this case to ensure neutral editing and avoid violations of basic Wikipedia regulations. Thanks. Atabek (talk) 08:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
From what I've noticed from the writing style of Verjakette and Bassenius, it's completely different from Artaxiad. This is judging from the incoherent writing of Artaxiad's sock user:Vonones. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 03:56, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

- Verjakette loaded pictures with camera information claiming he holds the copyright, it was generated on September 24, 2006 [82] I wasn't aware that Artaxiad or Fadix were in Armenia in September 24, 2006, I wasn't aware that either one ever visited Armenia. I could be mistaken in Artaxiad’s cases, but I doubt Artaxiad has a Canon EOS Digital rebel XT… its cost was about near a thousand dollars in 2006, a little too expensive for a teenager, how many teenagers handle a digital SLR camera anyway? Bassenius could be a sock of Artaxiad but Atabek’s intrusion here by including Fadix, when he knows how Fadix is sensitive when being falsely accused of socking is a provocation. You can tell from the edits it is obviously not him. - Fedayee (talk) 04:04, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Verjakette, I'm not an admin, just a regular editor, and if you have nothing to do with banned users, you have nothing to worry about. Checkuser will help clear you from suspicions. Your nervous reaction actually shows that there's a need for checkuser. I've been checkusered several times, and never ever objected. Feel free to file an RFCU on me any time you like, I will support such a request. Since there have been way too many socks recently on Armenia - Azerbaijan related articles (I counted about 20 at least), another checkuser won't hurt, considering similarity in editing style of some of the new folks with indef banned ones. - Because checkusering new users with no evidence that they may be suspected socks of the banned users does not create a welcoming environment for new users and goes against WP:AGF. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 14:20, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Pocopocopocopoco: this is not the place to debate Checkuser policy. Please discontinue. Everyone else debating this, also please discontinue, thanks. What I'd like to see are some diffs that demonstrate there is questionable behaviour and correlatable behaviour. Please don't just name off editors and ask the CUs to look through all contributions searching for justification, we don't always have time for that. - Sure. Bassenius (talk · contribs) is a brand new account. The problem with this user is that he instantly jumped into edit warring on such troubled articles as Shusha and Nagorno-Karabakh. I must note that editing disputes on the topic related articles resulted in 2 arbcom cases, the latest one being Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan 2. Sock abuse was one of the serious issues. On Shusha Bassenius made at least 2 reverts: [83] [84], in addition to a number of controversial edits. And then we have Hnarakert ( · contribs), another new account, which only edited talk page of Shusha. Shusha is quite an obscure article, and the fact that new users started editing Wikipedia from that article looks very strange, considering that they all tend to support Verjakette. Verjakette was involved in edit warring on a number of pages, Shusha, Ganja and Nagorno-Karabakh being a few of them. A few examples of his edit warring: [85] [86] [87] On Shusha he reverted a Wikipedia admin, among others: [88] Considering seemingly coordinated activities of those 3 accounts, the RFCU is necessary to establish whether there’s a connection between those users, and most importantly with previously banned editors, such as Artaxiad and Robert599, as their editing style strongly resembles that of those banned users. Grandmaster (talk) 07:05, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Confirmed: Haykbanuk is Artaxiad.
- Stale: Azizbekov and Robert599
- Unrelated: (still) Fadix
- Likely: that Bassenius, Verjakette, and Hnarakert are a single person, however, Inconclusive as to whether that is Artaxiad or not. Probably you'll need to get an admin to make a judgment call.

South Philly
- South Philly (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser)
- Evrik (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log • checkuser)
After his recent appearance in a few RfAs, I decided to look into what User:Evrik has been up to lately. In the past, he engaged in revert-warring as a team with User:South Philly, who has now been indef-blocked for sockpuppetry and revert-warring with sockpuppets. At the time of South Philly and Evrik’s tag-teaming on the WikiProject Awards battle, I noted that South Philly had some characteristics of a sock puppet: showing up usually to engage in content disputes and revert wars, as sort of a “bad hand” account. As a new user he promptly participated in revert-warring, ArbComm, AfDs and RfCs, always there to agree with or defend Evrik. Now that the South Philly account has been indef-blocked, I would like to make sure of the Evrik connection before the data on South Philly goes stale. If Evrik and South Philly are the same user, the Evrik account is being used to evade an indef-block.
It was suggested in an Arbcom case that South Philly might be Evrik's sockpuppet,[89] at the time, it doesn't appear to have been checkusered. However, there is a longer record to check now. I have gone through SP's entire edit history, comparing edit times and logs with Evrik's. There is zero overlap in editing times with Evrik.
There is, however, a significant amount of overlap in their interests and pages editeded. Here are a few key examples of team reverts and vote-stacking.
- 1. The Boothy443 edit war, 3RR violations
Evrik reverts Boothy443 [90], [91], [92], [93], [94]. South Philly appears, and as his fourth edit on Wikipedia, takes over the reverting from Evrik: [95]. Later Evrik returns to pick up war again [96]. Tag-teams with South Philly [97]. IP 172.139.11.155 continues reverting Boothy443 [98]. Then again Evrik [99], [100], [101],[102], and again South Philly picks up the ball [103], [104], and back to Evrik [105]
Some of this revert warring was slow, so technically not 3RR, but it was disruptive. If you look at his block logs, Evrik was blocked for this, as well as other instances of 3RR. I believe the South Philly account was used to evade this block (12:29, 19 February 2006 HappyCamper (Talk | contribs) blocked "Evrik (Talk | contribs)" with an expiry time of 8 hours (A reciprocal block for month long edit warring with User:Boothy443)), as the South Philly account edits during this time, including posting on Evrik's talk page commending him for fighting Boothy443: [106].
- 2. WikiProject Awards, vote-stacking and revert-warring
South Philly appoints Evrik "acting" coordinator of WikiProject awards, against consensus: [107] Evrik then appoints self coordinator, again against consensus: [108]
Gradually, other editors join the project and question this arrangement: [109], [110] Evrik is removed as coordinater, per consensus on talk page. A protracted edit-war ensues, with a number of different editors removing the text that says Evrik is coordinator, with Evrik and South Philly taking turns reverting. South Philly shows up to reinstate Evrik, against consensus: [111] After he is again removed by another editor, Evrik performs same revert: [112] Evrik did not discuss this revert on the talk page first, despite edit summary claiming so. Evrik is then removed by another participant, and again re-appoints self: [113] And again: [114] Now South Philly takes up the reverting: [115], [116] And then Evrik: [117]. Eleven minutes later, South Philly: [118], [119]. (This is one of the shorter switchover times between the accounts. Usually there's a break between twenty minutes to two hours for the switchover. Only rarely do we see switchover times as close as seven minutes.)
Removed after community intervention, Evrik leaves the project: [120] South Philly promptly nominates project for MfD: [121] (consensus: WP:POINT nomination, closed as keep)
Three months later, project now functioning fine as a normal Wikipedia collective, without Evrik. South Philly returns to again nominate for MFD: [122]. (Again, consensus to keep project.)
While not evidence in itself, if the evidence leans in favor of sockpuppetry, the Barnstars proposals page contains many examples of vote-stacking. Here’s a few examples: (a series of edits by South Philly, after a series of edits by Evrik): [123]
- 3. Vote stacking in an AfD
- [124] both accounts vote "keep."
- 4. Both accounts participate and back each other up in a mediation
- [125] and an ArbComm case: [126].
- 5. South Philly writes an "outside view" in a RfC on Evrik in an RfC
- Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Evrik#Outside view by South Philly Then later comes off wiki-break to try to AfD the RfC: [127] (Consensus keep - we don't MfD good faith RfCs).
Sorry this has gotten a little long. I'm uncertain how much info is "enough" to get a checkuser so I err a bit on the overkill side. Pigman☿ 04:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

This has spilled over to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Evrik (2nd). Pigman's claims are retaliation, and an abuse of the system. Recently Pigman said, "After his recent appearance in a few RfAs, I decided to look into what User:Evrik has been up to lately." [128] Well, what he is referring to is my "oppose" vote in Kathryn NicDhàna's RfA. Pigman and Kathryn NicDhàna have worked together closely in the past. This is retaliation for that vote. My simple vote was responded to by pigman with this screed.
While I have, to my knowledge, ever worked with Alison before, she also supported Kathryn NicDhàna's RfA.
Please take this all into consideration. --evrik (talk) 07:04, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I only bring these up, because it seems more reasonable to me to block a wide range of IP's with account creation disabled than to long term full-protect Mumia Abu-Jamal. IF it is possible, please either do a range block that would satisfy this or give us the IPs. (talk) 04:36, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Moved from Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/PWeeHurman. PWeeHurman is a very persistent vandal who claims to be using an "illegal device" to reset his IP quickly. He's known for inserting the minor POV statement of calling McDonald a "happy clown."
It was suggested on the WP:SSP case that the accounts should be listed here so the underlying IP can be blocked. --EoL talk 00:01, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Bosharivale and CranberryIce both made identical edits to Rape yesterday; CranberryIce was also active on Victim blaming, attempting to insert similar concepts to both articles, spinning the word "victim" to "complainant" and changing the Rape article to include substantial POV. DrKiernan (talk • contribs • blocks • protects • deletions • moves) indef-blocked CranberryIce, while Utcursch (talk • contribs • blocks • protects • deletions • moves) did for Bosharivale, stating the suspicion that it is DavidYork71 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log). After the indef-blocks, 81.177.16.151 popped up on Talk:Rape, stated agreement with the socks and asking for the changes to be replaced. It all started when Europebound2007 spammed blog sites to upcoming albums. The blogs link to a virus where the spammer falsely claims the album was leaked. Since Europebound2007's block, several accounts and IPs have been spamming the same blogspot sites, most commonly at Saturday Nights, Sunday Mornings. Is there a common range that can be blocked? Spellcast (talk) 21:04, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
The constant spamming has resulted in Google Pack, Raffle, Her Name Is Nicole, Counting Crows, and Saturday Nights, Sunday Mornings being semi-protected. Spellcast 02:39, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- If they're all to the same blog site, can't we hit the blacklist, given that this IP check is mitigated by the IPs already in the request? -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 03:43, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- The sites were added to the blacklist, but they just avoid the spam filter by leaving out the "http://". At least it's one less click away. Spellcast 22:37, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Non-compliant requests
Requests that do not follow the instructions at the top of the page will be moved here. Common reasons for noncompliance include:
- Did not cite a code letter, or cited more than one code letter.
- Did not cite any supporting diffs if the code letter requires diffs.
- Included IP addresses.
The specific deficiencies may be noted with Additional information needed. Cases which are corrected may be moved back to the pending section. Cases which are not corrected will be deleted after 3 days.
Please note that meeting these four criteria does not ensure that your check will be run. The checkusers retain final discretion over all cases.
