This page is a place to list foreign language articles on the English Wikipedia, to see if they can be translated before they are listed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If someone speaks the language the article is written in and can state that it is not worth translating, the item should be moved to AfD or tagged with {{prod}}.
TRANSLATION DEPARTMENT |

RELATED PROJECTS |
If the article is a mere copy of (all or part of) an article in a foreign-language Wikipedia, it can just be tagged with {{db-foreign}} to get added to Wikipedia:Candidates for speedy deletion: we want to discourage people who cut articles from one Wikipedia and paste to another without translating. If the intent is to ask for a translation of an article from a foreign-language Wikipedia, the correct place to do that is Wikipedia:Translation. As an alternative, you can leave a message on the contributing users talk-page using the templates from Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English/Templates for user talk pages or using {{UE}}.
Sometimes, legitimate articles are replaced by foreign-language content. In this case, the last English-language version should be restored from the history.
If an article has been listed here for two weeks and is still untranslated, it should be moved to AfD. When moving items to AfD, the boilerplate text on the article should be changed from {{notenglish}} to {{subst:afd}} and the other deletion steps should be carried out.
When listing a page here, you might want to find the Wikipedia:Embassy or Ambassador member of the Wikipedia that relates to the language the article is in and invite them to move the page to their own Wikipedia. If you don't even know what language the article is in you could use Language recognition chart and if that fails, some language recognition web site, such as xrce, or languid.cantbedone.org to find out. Please leave a note on this page if you do this to prevent duplication of messages. If you have come here from another Wikipedia, please note on this page what you think should be done with the article.
Please check for copyvio before listing here. (Articles which meet the criteria for CSD G12 can be speedily deleted with {{db-copyvio}}, others copyvios should be listed on WP:CP.) If you can tell what language an article is written in, that might help. Also consider posting the first line or so.
When pages listed here have been translated, their entry can be removed (or moved to cleanup if the translation needs another pair of eyes).

Boilerplate text
For a page that needs translation in its entirety (so it would be appropriate to delete if not fixed):
- 1. Use the notice {{Notenglish|NameOfLanguage}} if you know the language used, or {{Notenglish}} if you cannot identify the language of the page in question. The template will show up as:
- 2. Add a mention on this page, using:
- {{subst:Needtrans| pg= | Language=NameOfLanguage| Comments= }}--~~~~ replacing NameOfLanguage with the English name of the language if you know which language was used, or {{subst:Needtrans| pg= | Language=unknown| Comments= }}--~~~~ if you cannot identify the language used
- 3. You may also choose to warn the contributing editor with {{Uw-english}}, the "use English" warning, or suggest to use a different language Wikipedia with {{}}, where xx is the language code. An alternate template for identifying the article as having been listed here is {{uw-notenglish}}. Usage is {{subst:uw-notenglish|articlename|datein2weeksfromlisting}}~~~~.
If there is just a section that needs translation, that notice is inappropriate, so it's a little trickier:
- 1. Use [[Category:Wikipedia articles needing translation]].
- 2. Add an appropriate note at the top of the page in question, e.g.:
- ''Section [[#name-of-section|name-of-section]] contains text that needs translation into English.''.
- 3. Add a mention on this page.
If the article has been translated, but needs attention from someone approaching dual fluency in both languages:
- 1. Use the notice {{cleanup-translation}}, which will show up as:
- 2. Add a mention to the translation cleanup section on this page.

Li Feihui
Large chunks of albums, etc., in Chinese. Notable. -Yupik 07:02, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Still has a lot of untranslated text, mostly song titles. Cbdorsett 06:29, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Shōgo Hamada
Japanese, notability req filled. -Yupik 14:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Still needs translation of a few dozen song titles. Cbdorsett 06:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Ting Wo Kwong
The language of this article is unknown. Chinese? — Coren (talk) 03:34, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Chinese; he's a Hong Kong cinematographer. Seems notable, his name gets tens of thousands of GHits, and he's been involved in a lot of famous productions. The article itself looks like someone cut and pasted his resume from somewhere, it's just a long list of movie titles and names of people who starred in them; anyway I reformatted it into wikitables, but still need to translate some of the proper names (giant pain in the ass). cab 03:18, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Freedom of the press in Italy
There is a large section at the end which has been commented out because it is still in Italian. Cricketgirl 14:36, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- OK to remove from this page now. There is adequate information on the talk page, and the untranslated text is still in the comments on the main page. However, there is no non-English showing, so I'd say remove from here now. Cbdorsett 12:13, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Kto za pravdu horí
- The language of this article is Slovak. WWGB 13:18, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it would be a deletion candidate if it doesn't get translated, though. There are some - albeit not many - pages even of national anthems which don't feature a translation, or an entire translation. The question is going to be precisely what a "Patriotic Song" is (when used, why used etc), since it's not the Slovak anthem. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 09:26, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Arturo Jauretche
The language of this article is Spanish. Most of section 5 Rich Farmbrough, 18:17 8 September 2007 (GMT).
- Most has been translated to English now. The last three paragraphs of the Jauretche and revisionism section are still in Spanish. It's a biography with an assertion of notability, and there is an article by the same name (with Wiki link) in the Spanish Wikipedia. Cbdorsett 08:25, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
September 12
Apepiso
The language of this article is unknown. No idea what language this is in or where it came from. I just saw it when it popped up on the new pages list. Blair - Speak to me 00:54, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Methinks it is Turkish, written without diacritics. I would guess it's a non-notable bio, based on the years given in the article. Grandmasterka 04:51, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Pandit Todarmal
The language of this article is unknown. Michael Devore 10:57, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

The language of this article is unknown. I do not know how to tell if this is Hindi or another language that uses the Devanāgarī script. Jesse Viviano 22:52, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's Hindi. This text does not appear on the Hindi Wikipedia. Cbdorsett 11:26, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's about Birendranagar on the Nepali wikipedia. I have made it a redirect for now. HeartofaDog (talk • contribs) 16:44, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Translated pages that could still use some cleanup
Pages listed here are "mostly done" but could still use some attention from someone who approaches dual-native. Please use the notice {{cleanup-translation}} on the page.
May 2007
Kyoto Broadcasting System
The initial language of this article was Japanese. Needs help both in the Supplement section on content, and the Programming section for both text translations and time conversions -- I'd guess the times past 23:59 denote times after midnight referenced by the previous day's name, but it'd be helpful for someone with cultural knowledge to confirm. --VT hawkeyetalk to me 03:25, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Compressed air vehicles
10:45, 26 June 2007 (UTC) :I'm moving this to Wikipedia:Translation since there doesn't actually seem to be an article with that name in the English wiki. -Yupik 11:31, 26 June 2007 (UTC) Scratch that, the name of the article is actually Compressed air vehicles. -Yupik 11:39, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Talesrunner
The language of this article is Chinese. Author working on translation. May need help to speed things along. AlphaEta 05:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Translation seems to be about 50% now. I did some copyediting and cleaning up the English - needs a lot more help. Looks like a start-class gamelover page. Any gamers out there that can help out? Cbdorsett 03:57, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
List of Sgt. Frog episodes
More Japanese; I'm not sure this meets any notability reqs. -Yupik 14:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- The article is mostly English. Looks like a work in progress that was abandoned. It's probably no less notable than a lot of other pages that list episodes of a TV series. I think it should be referred to a Japanese-English translator. Cbdorsett 16:09, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- This one, too, by coincidence, has 11 titles still untranslated. Cbdorsett 06:09, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

XHTVM-TV
The original language is in Spanish. I've bneen able to translate much of it into english, but my spanish is extremely bad, and Babelfish.altavista.com can only do so much, as well. Most of the page is in English, and Broken English at this time. The Legendary RingtailedFox • Talk • Stalk 17:29, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Moving this here. -Yupik 10:21, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
List of Bishops of Sion
The initial language of this article was French. I'll try to clean it up myself, but I'm not likely to get to this quickly. — OwenBlacker 12:55, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've done some work on this. It was fun because the translation was so bad. Eg the VIe siecle was the LIFE century! But I've no knowledge of the technical terms etc so this still needs an expert eye. Redlentil 17:24, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Looks pretty good. Just tidying it up now. Where is the map? All the other dioceses in Switzerland have a map, except this one. Benkenobi18 21:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Most of this is unnecessary, and repeated in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sion. All we need is a reference to the main page, and the list of bishops here. Benkenobi18 22:11, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Orthomode transducer
Badly written, not understandable by a layman. Andreas (T) 14:31, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Larisa Arap
The initial language of this article was Russian. Attempted to fix the most egregious errors, and the article is currently listed at AfD, however it seems the majority view is Keep, so it will need some serious attention, and probably re-writing, including the location of English references, as the majority of them are in Russian or other languages. --Ariel♥Gold 22:52, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Yābaniy Es-Saharā
The language of this article is Arabic. Just a section of Arabic. It had been hanging there for months!! HELP!!!! Edmund the King of the Woods! 08:23, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- The Arabic portion is the lyrics of the song. Everything else is in English. (Short article). Cbdorsett 12:02, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
The initial language of this article was Arabic. Arabic to English doesn't quite make grammatical sense, some untranslated terms. ---Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 06:25, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Meco (municipality)
The language of this article is Spanish. Machine translated version of Spanish article, presumably. I've already translated the external links section. The Evil Spartan 19:54, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Should be moved to the bottom of this page, because all it needs now is serious copyedit. Apart from a few odd Spanish words here and there, it's all English. Cbdorsett 15:02, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Michael Baumann
The initial language of this article was German. This was a new article that I saw on recent changes and is a babelfish translation of the German wikipedia page. --carelesshx talk 17:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
玩酷 Playing Cool
Partial translation needed, this appears to be in Chinese (possibly Mandarin?) --Eastlaw 07:09, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Completely translated into English, does not need copyedit. Can be removed from this page. If someone is motivated, we need a disambig page to differentiate this from a single of the same name by a Welsh group Super Furry Animals (which has about 40 articles that link to it). Cbdorsett 14:28, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Certificados medicos para pilotos
The language of this article is unknown. Biscuittin 20:20, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Spanish. -Yupik 20:31, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Does not exist on the Spanish Wikipedia. Some of the text may be duplicated in Pilot_certification_in_the_United_States#Medical_certification_and_requirements. Cbdorsett 04:52, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've done a translation, though it sounds incredibly wooden. Anyone who want to make it sound better, please do. The Evil Spartan 11:19, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
