The Sportsman Channel is a cable network devoted to hunting and fishing programming. The channel airs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without any infomercials (though most programming has multiple underwritten sponsors. The Sportsman Channel is exclusively devoted to hunting/fishing shows.
In June 2007, the channel was purchased by the InterMedia Outdoors Holdings group, a division of private equity group InterMedia Partners [1] [2]. InterMedia Outdoors was already producing programs for the network which were based on several of their magazine titles such as Guns and Ammo and Fly Fisherman.
The network is also offered through their website via online broadcasting or VDC.com, for a monthly fee, with the network's content also distributed through video on demand on affiliated cable systems.
The network publishes a free quarterly magazine, The Sportsman, which highlights sportsmen stories and new product information. Subscriptions are available online at http://www.thesportsmanchannel.com .
Over-the-air Availability
The Sportsman Channel is primarily a cable television network, much like The Discovery Channel, but is also found over several television stations across the Southern United States, and Midwest.
