Temptation Island
Temptation Island is a U.S. reality television program broadcast on Fox in which several couples agreed to live with a group of singles of the opposite sex, in order to test the strength of their relationships. The first season of the show was taped on Ambergris Caye in Belize.
A ratings hit, Season 1 premiered on January 10, 2001 and aired its finale on February 28, 2001. Season 2 premiered on October 31, 2001 and delivered poor ratings [1]. After a nearly two year layoff, a third edition of the series premiered on August 28, 2003. Similar to Season 2, Season 3 delivered poor ratings [2]
Mark Walberg hosted all three editions.
International Adaptation
An Australian version of the program was also produced, and shown on the Seven Network. A French version, named "l’Île de la tentation," is shown on TF1 (and is currently in its 6th season). The Dutch/Flemish version, shown on Veronica and VT4, is successful. The 6th series has been broadcast in 2007. An Italian version was produced in 2005, named "Vero amore", but was unsuccessful. In Brazil, the SBT Channel made two series in 2002 and 2003, but was also unsuccessful. It was called "Ilha da Sedução". A Mexican version, "Confianza Ciega", was shown on SKY in 2004. There has even been an adaptation for CCTV in China.
From 1 November, Nova Television will air a Bulgarian version of the show (see Temptation Island (Bulgaria)), instead of Big Brother 4, which will be released in 2008.
