The United League Baseball, based in the Southern United States, is an independent baseball league which operates in Texas and Louisiana. It operates in cities not served by Major or Minor League Baseball teams and is not affiliated with either. The league uses the designated hitter. Founded in 2005, the league began its first season on May 16, 2006 with six teams: the Alexandria Aces, Amarillo Dillas, Edinburg Coyotes, Laredo Broncos, Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings and San Angelo Colts. The San Angelo franchise previously played in the now-defunct Central Baseball League. The United League is owned by CEO Brad Wednt and his brother and Principal Gary Wendt.

Playoffs
During the regular season the United League plays in a split season format, crowning a first half champion and a second half champion. When the United League's season ends in late August, the champions then play for the ULB Championship. If one team wins both halves, the team with the second-best overall season record will qualify for the playoffs as a wild card. The championship series will be the best 4 out of 7 games, played home and away in a 2-3-2 site format, with home field advantage awarded to the first half champion.
