M180_motorway }} '''The M181 Motorway''' links the town of Scunthorpe, England to the M180 motorway. Basically a spur of the M180, the road is virtually straight through its entire 2 mile length. It was opened in December 1978, at the same time as the section of M180 from junction 3 (A15) to the east side of the River_Trent (the bridge was not opened until late 1979). It begins just outside Scunthorpe, at the junction of the A1077 and A18. There is an out-of-town retail park, known locally as Gallagher_Retail_Park which offers a wide variety of food and retail outlets, and Glanford Park, the home of Scunthorpe United Football Club at this junction. At the other end, the road has a junction for the M180 east, while the main carriageway merges with the M180 west. It has no intermediate junctions. It is built to typical British motorway standards, being two lanes in each direction, plus a Hard_shoulder for its entire length. The road is suffering from subsidence along the entire length in both directions. Rather than an undulating surface, the road has boneshaking bumps, which is uncomfortable in a car, positively awful on a motorbike. ==Junctions== {| border=1 cellpadding=2 style="margin-left:1em; margin-bottom: 1em; color: black; border-collapse: collapse; font-size: 95%;" |- align="center" bgcolor="0080d0" style="color: white;font-size:120%;" | colspan="3" | '''M181 Motorway''' |- align="center" bgcolor="000000" style="color: white" | Southbound exits | Junction | Northbound exits |- align="center" | Grimsby, Humber_Bridge, Doncaster, '''M180''' | M180 J3 | ''Start of Motorway'' |- align="center" | ''Start of Motorway'' | Terminus | Keadby, Gunness, Scunthorpe, '''A18''', Crosby, Barton-upon-Humber, '''A1077''' |} ==External links== * CBRD Motorway Database - M181 * Pathetic Motorways - M181 * UK Motorway Archive. * Restaurants close to the motorway. * Truck driver from Nestlé takes his final drive on the M181. {{Template:UK motorways}} {{England-stub}} {{UK-road-stub}} 181 Sv:M181_(motorväg,_Storbritannien)
