A
Texan, twenty-something, currently studying to teach history, sociology, and political science. Married to a Chinese
Singaporean, artist and journalist-type, mid-twenties respectively.
I move often, have "quit smoking" three times in the last year, and became quite politically centre-left (not to mention more a libertarian) after living in
Australia for over a year in 2004-2005. A libertarian of that god-awful Southern U.S. "fiscal conservative, social liberal" streak. Goldwater conservative, that is, not to be confused with the
Religious_Right or "new"
right-wing American
neoconservatism. Not an anarcho-libertarian either; "small government" doesn't mean "no government," and I still advocate public infrastructure, education, and environmental regulation.
I typically edit articles on Texas history, U.S. history, American politics, Australian politics, Southwest Asian history, etc. I edit Wikipedia when bored, curious, or
drinking. I couldn't tell you how many edits I've made here. Gathering them from all my
Texan,
Aussie,
New_Zealand, and
Japanese IP addresses, the total comes out to [this sentence isn't complete, I still haven't bothered with actually counting].
I don't believe in
assuming good faith. It goes against all conventional sociological wisdom to do such, especially on a project where the potential for promoting political agenda and bias is one of its greatest ''lures''. I've seen more edit disputes here than I can count, including amongst sysops and ''astounding'' contributors, and see no reason to assume ''good'' faith on any Wikipedian's behalf. Good faith will be assumed on an individual basis upon observation of reason for such.
