The '''Prime Minister of Singapore''' is the Head_of_government of the Republic of Singapore (and prior to 9_August 1965, the State of Singapore). Lee_Kuan_Yew was prime minister from 1959 to 1990 and retired on 26_November 1990. Lee was succeeded by Goh_Chok_Tong and retained the title of Senior_Minister in the Prime Minister's Office.
Goh retired on 12_August 2004 and was succeeded by Lee_Hsien_Loong. Goh was appointed the senior minister, and the elder Lee, the Minister_Mentor.
