A '''President of the Executive Council''' is the presiding officer of an Executive_Council (and by extension, the Cabinet) in Commonwealth governments. The term may specifically refer to:—
*the President_of_the_Executive_Council_of_the_Irish_Free_State (Ireland's defacto Prime_Minister from 1922-1937)
*a Premier of a Canadian Province
*The Lord_President_of_the_Council in Britain.
Some areas in the Commonwealth merge the viceroyal office (Governor-General, Governor, or Lieutenant-Governor) with this one, e.g. the Governor-General_of_Australia and the Governor of the Cayman Islands. However, as the above cases indicate, the offices do not need to be merged.
Furthermore, despite the fact that Hong_Kong is no longer under British rule, it uses largely the same system of government implemented during British rule. The President of the Executive_Council_of_Hong_Kong was the Governor, and now the Chief Executive.
