The '''Implementation Force''' (IFOR) was a NATO-led multinational force in Bosnia_and_Herzegovina under a one year mandate from December_20, 1995 to December 20, 1996 under the codename ''Operation Joint Endeavour'' to implement the Dayton_Agreement, taking over from UNPROFOR.
It was sent in Bosnia after around 400 Blue_Helmets were captured and taken hostage by Bosno-Serbian forces under orders of Radovan_Karadzic and Ratko_Mladic.
Lt Gen Michael Walker, Commander ARRC (Allied_Command_Europe Rapid Reaction Corps) acted as the Land Component Commander for the Operation.
The IFOR shot its first shells the 23 August 1995, when French AMX_30_AuF1 155 mm artilleries pieces fired in anger at Bosno-Serbian mortar positions http://www.humanite.presse.fr/journal/1995-08-23/1995-08-23-732175.
On December_21, 1996, their task was taken over by SFOR.
