By way of an after the fact response ...
My vote should be struck? Why? I created the article and I was NOT notified about its deletion. How many other people would object to deletion and were not notified? People do not spend their whole lives refreshing Wikipedia pages waiting for notification. We have other things to do with our lives! How exactly are people supposed to find out about AfDs? Frankly, the whole process is a shambles. I too have a history of editing Newport County articles, like Zebroski and Pwimageglow, so why should my vote not count, but some random person with no interest in the club's will? - @Owain:, the answer is WP:CANVASS, which holds that "Canvassing is notification done with the intention of influencing the outcome of a discussion in a particular way, and is considered inappropriate. This is because it compromises the normal consensus decision-making process, and therefore is considered disruptive behavior." Your blatant canvassing of people to block the AfD is a serious violation of Wikipedia policy. Deletion discussions are based on objective standards and guidelines, not on head counts from fans. For those who want to keep up on the status of particular articles, they just need to add them on their watchlists, and those who do not glance at their watchlists at least once a week (the minimum period an AfD runs) ... well, if someone doesn't care enough about an article to spend one ten-thousandth of their week on that? They're certainly the best judge of their own time, but they can't claim to be overly committed to this project. You've been on Wikipedia far too long and have far too many edits to be unaware of these things. Ravenswing 13:15, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- I have long since stopped caring about the petty politics of this project to watch articles on a constant basis. I have MUCH better things to do with my time. As you know my previous work on here, you will also know that I have stopped creating new articles, and rarely edit anything anymore. Delete everything. I no longer care.
