ProfBlue12 account registered yesterday and their first substantive action was to !vote in an RfC [1]. Their vote echoes the opinion of Titus Gold, and thus far no one else in that RfC. ProfBlue12's very first Wikipedia edit was to join WkiProject Wales [2] (member 128). Titus Gold joined as member 123. This mirrors Titus Gold's own very targeted interest in Wales/Welsh issues and nothing else. The joining the Wikipedia project might have been done as cover for how they happened upon the RfC as the RfC is listed there, but there are no edits on any other RfC or discussion listed. Note also that the edit was sandwiched between times when Titus Gold is normally active, and that they were inactive during the time ProfBlue12 was editing. This appears to pass a duck test despite there only being 4 edits by the user. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:28, 5 April 2023 (UTC) Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:28, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

- Comment - I don't know where the result below leaves things. Although I do think this clearly passes a duck test, I also recognise that, at this point, there are only a couple of edits by the user, and Titus Gold has been here a long while. I don't think the comments will move the RfC and I can add an SPA tag for the closer. If this were closed with no action, would there be a record of this that could be used as evidence should any further disruptive editing be taken to ANI by any editor? If so, I would be content should admins decide to close with no further action. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 19:04, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments
- CheckUser requested - Titus Gold has over 11K edits and has been on Wikipedia for about 7 years. ProfBlue12 has made only a few edits. We can't sanction these users just because they voted the same at an RfC. Therefore, I'm requesting technical confirmation. Bbb23 (talk) 23:24, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- This is definitely Possible, maybe leaning Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely). Titus Gold mostly edits from a single static IP address, but occasionally dots about on other ranges. ProfBlue12's edits all come from a single IP, which geolocates to the same city as some of Titus Gold's occasional appearances. So far, no big deal, it's a big city. ProfBlue12 is also editing using the exact same UA as Titus Gold - it's a pretty common one, but the version number and browser are identical. So, yeah - they certainly could be the same person, but there's no smoking gun. Girth Summit (blether) 16:45, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- While the suspicions are understandable, the evidence is not conclusive enough to take action at this point, and as the filer points out, a drive-by vote from a new user is likely to be ignored by the closer. Feel free to re-report if more evidence emerges. Thanks, Spicy (talk) 18:47, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
