Evidence submitted by DIREKTOR
Requesting checkuser due to ongoing repetitive vandalism, as well as numerous WP:3RR and WP:CFORK violations.
- Both users are edit-warring (contrary to sources and WP:CFORK) to push the same POV on identical or similar issues while carefully avoiding each-other's "turfs".
- Both accounts were created in the space of a few months.
- User:FkpCascais' userpage was amended by User:Иван Богданов a number of times. [1]
- Both accounts turned hostile and ceased seriously discussing at the same time, even though only one remnained in contact with myself (one account became hostile, and the other followed for no apparent reason).
- Both accounts diplay the exact same pattern of grammar & spelling errors.
In addition, a derrogatory mock-account directed against me was recently created by an IP (User:DIREKTOR SPLIT). If possible I would like to request a clarification of User:Иван Богданов's involvement in this disruptive behavior. [2] --DIREKTOR (TALK) 11:51, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Of course, all of this is a nonsense. I myself had an conflict with User:FkpCascais, about four months ago. I'm from Serbia, he's from Portugal. User:DIREKTOR is just angry at me because I launched an SPI request aganist him yesterday (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DIREKTOR). He is probably a sockpuppet master himself. He is known for numerous WP:3RR violations; his last 48 hours blockade expired only three days ago. He had four blockades so far. I have nothing to be afraid of, because I did nothing wrong. Please, check me as soon as possible! --User:Иван Богданов (talk) 13:16, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

- Confirmed Иван Богданов = DIREKTOR SPLIT. I don't think there is enough evidence to check FkpCascais. It looks to me like Иван Богданов was vandalizing FkpCascais' userpage, not helping. Without diffs supporting the other claims, it may as well be baseless. Dominic·t 23:55, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- DIREKTOR SPLIT blocked indefinitely (about 10 days ago by another sysop) and tagged. Иван Богданов blocked for a week by myself. NW (Talk) 23:59, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

When I first met User:Иван Богданов, I was in fact the first person to post on his talk page, because he was going through politician lists, removing large portions of them, then immediately restoring them. (Early example: [3][4]) This is quite annoying for someone who watches these for vandalism. I came across this IP - which resolves to Serbia, and Иван Богданов is a proud Serb - doing exactly the same thing. (Recent examples:[5]-[6], and[7]-[8]) Normally I wouldn't jump right into an SSP, but with the MO being identical, the IP resolving to Serbia, and the heinous acts for which Иван Богданов was blocked, I wanted to run this through Checkuser quickly. - Confirmed that Иван Богданов is evading his block by editing while logged out. I'd rather not point to specific IP addresses if possible, but I am checking into the possibility of a rangeblock.Hersfold(t/a/c) 16:34, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Could someone please look into these accounts to see if the behavioral evidence is very similar? These accounts are all possibly the same person based on technical data. Hersfold(t/a/c) 16:54, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

- P.S. - I've notified the two marked as "likely" above of this page.Hersfold(t/a/c) 16:56, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, i heard only about Ivan Bogdanov of all of those users. Also, my account was created in 2005, so it looks like i cannot be Ivan's sock. :) You may talk to user Prodego regarding me. I cannot help with the others, because I really dont know any of them. And even Ivan i dont know, he was reverting Yugoslavia article recently, that's all i know. Also, that technical data may be our largest internet operator SBB (http://www.sbb.rs/cms/view.php?id=1), where we all share very similar IP address. If all of those users live in Belgrade, or anywhere near, IP will be also almost identical.--Tadija (talk) 17:10, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- You're all on the same ISP, yes, however you and the other account I've marked as likely appeared on both network ranges that Иван Богданов was on, and in both cases appeared to be on the same computer. Checkuser shows more than just what IP you're editing from.Hersfold(t/a/c) 20:35, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, i didn't know, as i told, you may speak to User:Prodego, orUser:Moreschi regarding me. But, as i see now, both of us, "likely" ones, are here years before Иван Богданов. All best,--Tadija (talk) 21:16, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I am not connected with this User:Иван Богданов in no way, and you could check this with User:Obradovic Goran orUser:Dungodung —Lampica (talk) 22:49, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. First I want to be clear that although I am checkuser on Serbian Wikipedia, I have not seen the findings of en.wp checkusers, I am not toroughly familiar with the en.wp policies regarding these sort of investigations, and I know nothing about user account Иван Богданов.
- I do know user Lampica, she has been a respected contributor to sr.wp for several years now. I know her in person since she often visits wiki meetings in Belgrade. On sr.wp she is known as a user that does not participate in fights. As far as I can tell, she doesn't edit politics topics. As a mathematician she mostly works on math subjects. Again, I am not trying to meddle in en.wp checkuser business, this is just my personal experience with user Lampica.
- Since it is already revealed which provider is in question, I can say a word about that as well. SBB is the largest cable Internet provider in Serbia. I'm not very sure about current packages they offer, but few years ago I used their services and back then they had some cheaper packages that connected to Internet via SBB proxy. I know of cases where users from Serbia (i.e. sr.wp bureaucratJovanvb IIRC) had their IP/accounts blocked because some other user vandalized en.wp from behind that proxy.
- I've talked to Lampica now, and she is not sure if she is using that package, but she says that she recently changed package, and since then she seems not to be able to connect to IRC (which was one of the symptoms of using their proxy package). This might be the reason why she (and maybe some other users) got implicated in this investigation. Cheers -- Obradović Goran (talk 23:28, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- I am the user who made the ANI report that led to the block ofUser:Иван Богданов (see report) I have argued strongly for his block and against him being unblocked. I am no defender of User:Tadija or User:Lampica but having looked in depth at their POV and edits and style I would be astonished if they were in any way related. Polargeo(talk) 15:05, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
(interesting timing; this languished for a while, but I edit conflicted on the close). I'll take a stab at wrapping this up; no sense leaving named editors in limbo for this long. I've reviewed the contributions (or lack thereof) of Иван Богданов and the editors listed above. I have no comment on the technical IP issues Hersfold and Obradović Goran mention, as they are somewhat over my head. I'm only addressing the sockpuppetry allegations against the named accounts based on behavioral evidence.
- First, Lampica, a long-term uncontroversial editor here since March 2007, almost exclusively adding interwiki links. No history of disruption at all. I'm also persuaded by the "character references" provided by Obradović Goran and Dungodong. I think it very likely this person is not the same as Иван Богданов.
Once I reached the conclusion that Lampica and Иван Богданов are very likely not the same person, Obradović Goran's technical explanation seems more likely, casting more doubt on the others.
- Tadija. Long-term but more controversial editor since October 2005. Active in many heated subject areas, and I do see some edit warring and a history of previous socking allegations. However, the tone used in discussions seems very different to me, and their typical subject matter is different than Иван Богданов; if this were the same person, they would have to be exceptionally good at segregating their editing. I think it reasonably likely this person is not the same as Иван Богданов.
- Boksi. Long-term editor since July 2008, a few warnings on the talk page but no blocks. Again, typical subject matter is significantly different from Иван Богданов. Because of this, combined with technical explanation above, I think it reasonably likely this person is not the same as Иван Богданов.
- Idinic. Long-term editor Since July 2007, appears uncontroversial, with a different editing interest than Иван Богданов. I think it very likely this person is not the same as Иван Богданов.
- Eridinseth, DreamHouseB, RakaFortyFive, Skovjanic. New accounts created in February and March of this year, no edits. Worth keeping an eye on if they start editing, but no reason to block at this time.
I'd be slightly more comfortable if, before this is archived, Hersfold made a comment about the feasibility of Obradović Goran's technical explanation, and if he (or anyone) can help verify Obradović Goran is a Checkuser on sr.wiki. But barring any weirdness in the answers, I think this can be closed as "Иван Богданов socking with IP, named accounts appear unrelated." --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:11, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

- OK; I was looking for the Serbian equivalent ofSpecial:ListUsers, but couldn't navigate sr.wiki well enough to find it. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:07, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
- The explanation fits. I was aware that this was a large provider, hence my designation of "likely" rather than "confirmed". Two users with a similar computer setup is not outside the realm of possibility, especially on such a large network.
- On a side note in reference to Floquenbeam's last comment, if you're having trouble navigating another language wiki, the English-language titles of the special pages still work:http://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Listusers will still bring you to the correct page. If once you're there you can't understand what it's saying, add ?uselang=en to the end of the URL, and it'll translate system-based content as much as possible:http://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Listusers?uselang=en .Hersfold(t/a/c) 17:36, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
