This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on April 17, 2008
List of every Wikipedia list that does not contain itself → Russell's paradox
Self referencing redirect unlikely to be typed. Guest9999 (talk) 20:08, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete self-referential in-joke that by sheer coincidence seems like a followup to the discussion of the RfD of the List of everything ([1]). It's just a coincidence that was created two years ago, but clearly the title of the redirect is a most highly unlikely search term. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 00:27, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete, redirect does not make any sense, highly unsearchable.
- Strong Keep. Without the redirect, someone could attempt to actually create the list, possibly causing wikipedia to self-destruct. Klausness (talk) 12:01, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete junk. JuJube (talk) 08:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Comment. Removing this redirect will also break Wikipedia:List_of_Wikipedian_contradictions_and_paradoxes. Klausness (talk) 10:19, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete per 147.70.242.40. The List of Wikipedian contradictions and paradoxes can be updated to change "is" to "was" (i.e. present → past tense) after this redirect is deleted. Black Falcon (Talk) 14:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
The Throw → The Coral Sea (book)
Not related to target page – ThatWikiGuy (talk|life) 11:19, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Comment. Every poem's title has either an article for a more "familiar" meaning (Rank and file, Monkeyshines, The Solomon Islands) or a redirect to the same target page as the redirect in question. Does every poem in the book merit a redirect? I don't know if notability is a consideration at RfD; if so, then I would lean toward recommending a deletion of the redirects dealing with the poems in the book (the notability is that of the person who wrote the book, Patti Smith, and not that of the poems themselves). Is the book itself sufficiently notable? I'm not sure, and I'm not sure if this is better served with an AfD of the target. No recommendation. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 00:45, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Followup. After reading WP:BK, I am now convinced that this (and the other redirects pointing to the target article) should be bundled as a package for possible deletion after someone takes the target article to AfD. I'm not sure if it would survive, and if that's the case, the deletion of the target would make all the redirects CSD R2. Would someline like to do the honor? 147.70.242.40 (talk) 19:43, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Weak keep there is a chance that a person will search for the individual poem. Atyndall93 | talk 03:50, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Target article - as are other articles about Patti Smith's books - is a stub which doesn't demonstrate each book's notability. While it might be best to merge all the book articles in a new List of books by Patti Smith, until this happens, the only justification for deletion of the redirect seems to be WP:IDON'TLIKEIT, which is not a justification at all. Weakest of all possible keeps until new list article is created, then delete as unnecessary. B.Wind (talk) 04:03, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Tau zero wiki → Tauzero
Page it links to is going to be deleted WP:CSD#A7 will be broken – ThatWikiGuy (talk|life) 11:10, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
The above is preserved as the archive of a RfD nomination. Please do not modify it.Ʒuˈɐ̃w̃ dɨ ˈbaʁuʃ → João de Barros
Would anybody type this? in the address bar – ThatWikiGuy (talk|Co-kingship) 09:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep it because it is the Portuguese IPA pronunciation guide equivalent of João de Barros.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph Solis in Australia (talk • contribs) 05:11, April 17, 2008
- But nobody would type this in links, 3 google results;
- Ʒuˈɐ̃w̃ dɨ ˈbaʁuʃ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- Wikipedia:Deletion today - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- João de Barros - Wikipedia, ᎯᎠ ᎠᏎᏊᎢ ᎥᎦᏔᎲᎢ
– ThatWikiGuy (talk|Co-kingship) 09:56, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Speedy delete as an improbable typo. Do we really want or need 2 million new redirects from the IPA pronunciation of every article on Wikipedia? --Russ (talk) 10:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Exactly, thats what I was thinking. – ThatWikiGuy (talk|Co-kingship) 10:18, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete highly improbably search term. Atyndall93 | talk 03:51, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Earl L. Carter → Buddy Carter
Redirect created by a bot after the Buddy Carter article was vandalized to say "Earl L. Carter"; the actual subject of the Buddy Carter article is "William Carter". jwillbur 03:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Speedy delete CSD R3. Polbot erroneously created it; clearly Buddy Carter and Willam Carter are not the same person. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 00:49, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Speedy delete erronneous redirect. Atyndall93 | talk 03:53, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Earl Carter → Buddy Carter
Redirect created by a bot after the Buddy Carter article was vandalized to say "Earl L. Carter"; the actual subject of the Buddy Carter article is "William Carter". Redirect was then co-opted for an article on a non-notable person, AFDed, and turned back into a redirect. jwillbur 03:36, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete - too bad this one can't be a Speedy Delete (is there an admin who could view this otherwise???) as the redirect was restored after an AfD of an actual article. Clearly the redirect can cause confusion, as evidenced in the AfD discussion. Please delete with due speed. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 00:56, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete erroneous redirect. Atyndall93 | talk 03:53, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
تنوب → Tanub, Sudan
(withdrawn) Result of a page move, quite unlikely search word(?) - Nabla (talk) 00:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep It's an arab place name, keep it. – ThatWikiGuy (talk|Co-kingship) 09:08, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Do we aim to have translations of every title to every language? - Nabla (talk) 15:30, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- No, just the language of the local area. – ThatWikiGuy (talk | life) 15:34, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- While we do keep redirects to settlements from the title of the settlement in the local language, should we do so for languages that use non-Latin alphabets? As I recall, these have been deleted in the past... Black Falcon (Talk) 21:16, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Plausible search term as someone may know the village only as تنوب, not Tanub. Non-latin-ness shouldn't be a deciding factor. –Pomte 02:29, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
