- I'm the one who uploaded the file. I'm sure you saw that this same issue was already being discussed in my talk page. The link was active when I uploaded it. As the file description says, this is a screenshot of a video of the NASA chaseplane, making it a NASA work. I need to look in the NASA site for the video itself (in that link, the video was hosted by a news company). Please hold off deleting this file until I can find the file and properly attribute it. --WingtipvorteX PTT ∅ 23:45, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep with license as amended Skier Dude (talk) 04:28, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- 1946 photo from Pakistan. It says that photos expire in Pakistan 50 years after publication. If this photo was published in the year of creation, it means that the copyright expired in Pakistan on 1 January 1997. This means that it was still protected by copyright in Pakistan on 1 January 1996, so this photo is copyrighted in the United States for 95 years since the first publication of the photo. Stefan2 (talk) 22:07, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry, I made a mistake, the photograph was taken at the Simla conference called by the viceroy Lord Wavell in June 1945. Please see Wolpert, Stanley (3 September 2009), Shameful Flight: The Last Years of the British Empire in India, Oxford University Press, pp. 83–, ISBN 978-0-19-539394-1, retrieved 22 July 2012 which gives the dates of the conference. Simla is in India, so it is PD-India was would be the correct tag. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 22:39, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry, {{PD-India}} requires publication before 1941 in order to be free in the United States. --Stefan2 (talk) 23:07, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Can PD-Pakistan work? Both present-day India and Pakistan are successor states of British India. Simla was the capital of British India. Although Simla itself is in current-day India, both Jinnah and Tiwana, shown in the picture, for example, joined the new nation of Pakistan in 1947. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 09:24, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- PS There are other similarly-licensed images: for example, File:Jinnah.jpg, which although taken in Bombay, now in India, has the PD-Pakistan tag. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 10:07, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- PPS I have now changed the licensing to "PD-Pakistan." The picture was taken in June 1945. By Pakistani law, it entered the public domain in that nation 50 years later, i.e. June 1995. Consequently, the law "A file is in the public domain in the United States only if it entered the public domain in Pakistan prior to 1996" applies. - I take it that "1965" in the file name means that the photo was taken in 1965. This is unfortunately too recent both for Pakistan (1961) and for the United States (1945). Stefan2 (talk) 22:14, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
