User:Geo Swan/Guantanamo/Ibrahim Zeidan reports Abu Zubaydah image used as an interrogation tool
Unsourced personal speculation, kept for two and a half years in userspace, without any chance of becoming an article. Wikipedia is not the place to conduct or store investigative journalism. Fram (talk) 11:52, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Delete, per nom. The page's creator may have some interesting ideas on the topic, but they are are largely WP:OR. Wikipedia should not be used for long-term hosting of original research, either in mainspace or in userspace. Nsk92 (talk) 12:22, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Speedy delete as per nom and various sections like this one. User:Geo_Swan/Guantanamo/Ibrahim_Zeidan_reports_Abu_Zubaydah_image_used_as_an_interrogation_tool#Funny_aspects_of_Abu_Zubaydah.27s_claims. Maybe it was so funny because they brutally tortured him? That funny? No! BLP issues are not funny. I suggest speedy deletion G10. IQinn (talk) 12:26, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Note I just added the G10 template to the page so that it got blanked. No reason to have such things around for one minute longer. IQinn (talk) 13:42, 14 October 2010 (UTC) Update G10 applies only partly and was therefore declined. So back to the discussion here. Cheers! IQinn (talk) 15:49, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Delete WP:NOTWEBHOST...too much WP:OR and personal opinion. As such, it's an incubator for a personal blog, not an article. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 16:28, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Keep -- We are not investigative journalists. The wikipedia does not publish investigative journalism. And, as I wrote here, I used a user-space note as an aid to help me determine what could and could not be included in article space. User-space is supposed to contain material that aids in the building of an encyclopedia. Using the note as an aid did contribute to the building of an encyclopedia. It was and remains my understanding that recording my thoughts as to what was and what did not belong in article space was a perfectly appropriate use of user-space. - And why do you want to keep it around now, two and a half years later? Fram (talk) 12:49, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Just a few months ago new information emerged that, that put a different light on Zeidan's testimony that AZ had been in Guantanamo in 2004, and that Guantanamo interrogators told captives about his torture and showed them the recordings. Contrary to what officials had said previously, it emerged, just a few months ago, that AZ had been secretly transferred to a previously unknown CIA camp in Guantanamo in September 2003, then secretly transferred back out in March 2004. Following this information becoming public it was useful to rethink what could be said about IZ's testimony that would comply with WP:SYNTH. It would be helpful for me if you explained why you don't recognize this as a use of user space that complies with WP:User pages. Or is there some other policy you don't think it complies with, please spell it out. Geo Swan (talk) 23:19, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
