Stillborn portal. One selected article, one selected "Local Island", one bio. "News" section's first and only entry from February 2011. Mark Schierbecker (talk) 06:28, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- Delete This portal has been abandoned for over eight years and was immediately dumped right after creation. It clearly fails WP:POG's requirement that portals should be about subjects broad enough to attract large numbers of maintainers and readers. This portal has had over eight years of no maintainers and it had an abysmal 11 views per day in June and July 2019 (despite the head article Maldives having 8362 views per day in the same period). Portals stand or fall on their merits in the now, not what could someday hypothetically happen with them, and this one falls flat. I am strongly against allowing recreation, as there is eight years of hard evidence that the Maldives is not a broad enough topic for a portal.Newshunter12 (talk) 07:11, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- Delete per nominator and per @NH12. This micro-portal is not just abandoned, but abandoned before it was ever half-working, and has not attracted other maintainers in the 8 years since then.
- WP:POG requires that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers" ... and the evidence of the last 8 years is that this portal has attracted zero maintainers, and almost zero readers. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:45, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- Delete this stub-portal as per analyses by NH12 and BHG. Like most abandoned stub portals, this one uses forked subpages, which are a failure and prone to abandonment. If a future editor wants to implement a portal with a better architecture, Deletion Review is on the click. Robert McClenon (talk) 22:03, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
- Note that there is a redirect from Portal:The Maldives. Those backlinks will need attention if the portal is deleted. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:04, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
