Request Information
Who are the involved parties?
Simon Dodd and 71.39.78.68 -- Please note: I prefer to edit anonymously. I created the user Ip71397868 as it seemed that I had to in order to create this page. If you wish to talk to me, can I ask that you do so on the 71.39.78.68 talk page? Thank you.
What's going on?
Simon Dodd and I are having a dispute as to changes occurring to the Ann Althouse page. In response to my discussions on the talk page and changes to the page itself, Simon has unilaterally acted to have the page semi-protected, and now he is threatening me with having my IP address blocked from editing.
What would you like to change about that?
I would like someone to a) examine the nature of the changes that Simon has put in, specifically a reference to a book published by Jessica Valenti, b) help us editors understand if that change is relevant or irrelevant c) help us editors understand if Simon's threat to have my address blocked from editing is a reasonable action, or an unjustified coercive threat
Moot
This mediation request has become moot since it was filed. The disputed material in question has subsequently been reviewed and removed by an admin and the article locked from subsequent editing. This filing's status should be changed to "closed." Simon Dodd 16:59, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ip71, do you agree with closing this case? — Sebastian 03:00, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- No I don't. In part because as an editor, I feel that Simon Dodd has repeatedly put biased information into the article, and I think it would be good if a mediation party would examine our edits and help ALL of understand why Dodd's edits are either POV or non POV. I also think Simon has harassed other users, with the following non-good-faith actions:
1) getting someone to semi-protect the page, ostensibly so that I could not edit it. (There was very little vandalism to the page.) 2) threatening to somehow have my ip address blocked if I continued to edit the page Since I was editing the page in a good faith effort, AND discussing the reasons why on the talk page (And Simon was not), I would love for Simon and I to chat with a mediator to discuss what POV is and ain't and what reasonable methods for resolving edit disputes are. Maybe Simon was correct in reaching for semi-protection and threatening bans. Maybe Simon is acting in bad faith.
Thanks. (And thank you for respecting my ability to edit "anonymously") 71.39.78.68 17:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- MedCab is not set up to deal with behavioral issues like threatening bans. For such issues you may consider posting a Wikiquette alert or filing a Request for Comment. — Sebastian 18:45, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
So, is this case safe to close? Its been inactive for 1 week. Diez2 15:38, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Because no response was ever made to my question, I am closing this case. If the dispute continues, and you wish to reopen this case, please make a new case and contact me on my talk page. Thank you. Diez2 21:28, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
