Comment: Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not accept licenses published only for our use. We only accept works released under a free content license, which allows anyone to reuse the work for any purpose. If you are willing to release the poster under such a license, see the instructions at Commons:Volunteer response team. Otherwise, inform me of your decision, and the file will be uploaded as non-free content. Snowmanonahoe (talk· contribs ·typos) 22:04, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
If it could be uploaded as non-free content that would be great! The copyright holders only informed me that they would like the poster to be uploaded on the documentary's Wikipedia page but did not inform me of the specific licensing information and I can't find anything about it online since it was a small, independent film made almost entirely by the copyright holders/directors. Any assistance in having the poster displayed on the page would be great help! Marianatosta (talk) 22:29, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

Article to be used on/reason for upload: To serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article for this EP, which cannot be made until the cover is available
The media is of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization which owns it, without being unnecessarily high resolution.
The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing Dahej Daasi, a subject of public interest. The significance of the media is to help the reader identify the subject in question, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the same, and illustrate the intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey.
Because title cards or screens contain unique (and typically protected) creative expression, there is almost certainly no free equivalent. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary.

Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload:Tornado outbreak and derecho of April 1-3, 2024, there is an insufficient number of images of the outbreak. Two of the three images in the article are images that a reader wouldn’t necessarily expect to see in a tornado outbreak article (and I have since removed them).
These images (that I am requesting to be uploaded) need to at least be on Commons. Will let uploader choose between the dozens of files that are on the above webpages, not all of them need uploaded unless the pictures will be attached to each tornado section individually.
There are also hail images from the second link that can be used to replace one of the “not-exactly-encyclopedic” images that used to be on the article.

@Snowmanonahoe: the seal is freely licenced: the original seal looks to have been created in 1896 [3], well before the 1928 date for copyright protection. It was printed on paper as early as 1939, so a paper rendition wouldn't attract copyright ([4]) per PD-US-not-renewed. Hence I'll just upload it to Commons as PD. —Matrix(!) {user - talk? - uselesscontributions} 14:37, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Deal or No Deal Island Promotional Poster

This request for upload has been reviewed. The reviewer comments appear below the submission text.
The copy is of sufficient resolution for commentary and identification but lower resolution than the original poster. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, unsuitable as counterfeit artwork, pirate versions or for uses that would compete with the commercial purpose of the original artwork.
Main infobox. The image is used for identification in the context of critical commentary of the work, product or service for which it serves as poster art. It makes a significant contribution to the user's understanding of the article, which could not practically be conveyed by words alone. The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing the work, to show the primary visual image associated with the work, and to help the user quickly identify the work, product or service and know they have found what they are looking for. Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original artwork, namely the creator providing graphic design services, and in turn the marketing of the promoted item.
As television series poster art, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image that shows the same artwork or poster would also be copyrighted, and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or commentary.
@Snowmanonahoe: Yes it does - it will be used on the infobox of the article for visual identification. This is long established to be a sufficient justification for NFCC 8. —Matrix(!) {user - talk? - uselesscontributions} 17:00, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Reply: Sorry, not sure about the markup/protocol for replying. Please reconsider. I submitted the original request; I work at Reaching Across Illinois Library System. Is not the "Map of RAILS service area, Reaching Across Illinois Library System, CC BY-SA" text below the image on the https://railslibraries.org/locations page sufficient? Because we cover a large area, a street map with a pin isn't very good. Also, I didn't see anything in the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaching_Across_Illinois_Library_System markup to indicate where that OpenStreetMap comes from or how to change it. Thank you for your assistance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.162.69.198 (talk) 20:30, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

The map shows the geographic area we serve, with dots for our office locations. Our member libraries are all within the map area but are not individually marked. 67.162.69.198 (talk) 21:13, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
Hm... that article uses a weird infobox. It's an article on a library system but an infobox for a library. Generally we don't put maps in articles where we would need to mark multiple distant locations, so I'm just going to remove it entirely.
Sorry for all the time of yours we have wasted. Snowmanonahoe (talk· contribs ·typos) 22:27, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

The top image (the one with the paths of the tornadoes and the wind reports) was the one I had originally intended to be uploaded, as it would have the highest chance of me actually being able to use it in the article here on Wikipedia; but if you want to upload both of them to the Commons, both of them may be academically useful. 2601:5C5:4380:FD80:842E:D85C:F39B:604A (talk) 18:02, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
