Various images of newspaper clippings uploaded and added to the article Daggafari, some of which appear to be being used as citations. The clippings themselves are nothing more than text, so there's no reason to upload them as images per WP:TEXTASIMAGES regardless of their respective ages or copyright status. If a clipping is needed to cite relevant article content, then the original publication or work can be more than adaquately cited in the article per WP:CS if it satisfies WP:RS. Moreover, relevant content from the clippings can be quoted as text in the article as long as MOS:QUOTE is met. There is no real reason to scan a published article, upload the scan, and then try to cite the scan as a source, etc. when the same content can be incorporated into the article in other ways. Suggest Delete for all. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:02, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- The file, File:Dagga a queer dope.jpg, is of upmost importance to include directly as an image to convey the very old history and meaning of the Afrikaans word dagga used in directly in the English language. Readers who do not know the meaning or context of dagga in history will benefit from the text as image as only headline is readable because of the illegibility of the main body even on the original source copy. Many of these old article have not been OCR'd nor can they be reliably transcribed. Additionally the body text becomes important as the history of the dagga culture develops as all the info has not yet been added. The article is incomplete. As for the others they are equally important but is not really used to convey context but was included for historical purposes and breaks the long body of text to some extent. (The history section will grow considerably in the future.) I would like a request be made for an exception on the first mentioned "scan" because it it critical in conveying context of the word dagga in history to new readers. That otherwise cannot be conveyed with a reference. Because it is critical when reading the article and not verifying references or researching the references. If the outcome is delete please give me sufficient time to transcribe the first mentioned article to be quoted in totality within the article only increasing the body text further and I am unsure what images can be used to break the text to a comfortable degree. I will get the url to the direct source when possible.-MickeyDangerez (talk) 07:28, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- Delete all per nom's straightforward and cogent arguments. The text may be quoted and cited; the actual appearance and layout of the text on the newspaper pages is not relevant to the citations. Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:55, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- It is the contents that is important not the appearance or layout. The entire text is not legible therfore it would be wrong to assume some of the words and it best to be deciphered by the reader. In comment to File:Dagga a queer dope.jpg--MickeyDangerez (talk) 07:59, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Please note files updates with direct sources.--MickeyDangerez (talk) 07:56, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Removed some of the images from the article, please consider keeping the culture of hemp and a queer dope.--MickeyDangerez (talk) 08:09, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

It is in the similar manner the nominated files are used and should not be deleted.--MickeyDangerez (talk) 09:48, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
