There seem no grounds on which this person is notable in themselves. They existed, were a merchant, married someone's daughter, had children. Sources mention him only fleetingly, eg as his wife's husband (and using different spelling of name, Alsagoff, which is not mentioned in the article). Possibly include a brief mention of this person in Alsagoff Family with redirect, but stand-alone article does not seem appropriate. PamD 17:37, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
- Contesting the deletion - Not all sources mention him only as the husband of his wife. Regards, Leo1pard (talk) 17:46, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

- Besides, it is now even bigger than the article about his father, and it includes a picture that has a connection to him. I do not think that putting all this information into another article would be attractive to readers or editors of that article. Leo1pard (talk) 04:19, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

*Contesting the deletion – Is this article not too informative or big to be merged with another article, redirected to another one, or deleted, now? Leo1pard (talk) 05:38, 30 April 2017 (UTC) Only one !vote is required.
- Delete - I can't find any reliable sources so other the he exists there is no notability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pmedema (talk • contribs) 23:47, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
- Contesting the deletion Firstly, you did not sign your comment. Secondly, I do not know why you cannot find any, but I do find sources that say things about him, apart from his existence, otherwise, how would I have been able to separate it into those sections?[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] Leo1pard (talk) 08:45, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
- Comment - Even if these are reliable sources, which I'm on the fence about, there is no notability here to make it encyclopedic. - Pmedema (talk) 17:05, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
- Comment - How come? The article discusses his role in cementing Alsagoff Family in Singapore, besides his career, his connection to a historic Masjid, and life. Leo1pard (talk) 17:44, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
- Delete The article says a lot about his family members, some of whom may have been notable (though others were not), but this notability is not inheritable. Of him, the article says he was a merchant. That's it in total. Nothing to suggest he was special as a merchant. Emeraude (talk) 14:24, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- Or even redirect Sayyid Ahmad ibn ‘Abdur-Rahman As-Saqqaf to Alsagoff_Family#Syed_Ahmad_ibn_.E2.80.98Abdur-Rahman, we do have redirects to parts of articles in Wikipedia. Leo1pard (talk) 13:28, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
- Redirect I think redirecting makes a lot of sense here. Power~enwiki (talk) 02:47, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

- Sayyid Ahmad ibn ‘Abdur-Rahman As-Saqqaf has been redirected to Alsagoff_Family#Syed_Ahmad_ibn_.E2.80.98Abdur-Rahman, so can we keep it like that, close this discussion, and get rid of those big signs, now? Leo1pard (talk) 05:38, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- I have reverted that edit: see WP:EDITATAFD which says
You should not turn the article into a redirect. A functioning redirect will overwrite the AfD notice. It may also be interpreted as an attempt to "hide" the old content from scrutiny by the community.

- Comment from nominator: I agree with the article's creator that a Redirect to Alsagoff_Family#Syed_Ahmad_ibn_.E2.80.98Abdur-Rahman would be a good outcome from this AfD, but the process needs to run its course so that any decision to do so is recorded as the result of an AfD for future reference.
