Contested PROD. Non-notable secondary school, no reliable sources. GlassCobra 19:13, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment The author could probably make this article stick by writing about the (apparently, closed after integration) high school, and then including a section about the middle school in that article. Mandsford (talk) 20:25, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I found a history of the school at this link. Apparently, its predecessor schools date back to 1901, and it was historically a school for black students until desegregation in 1970. I think there might be enough history to this school to merit keeping it. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 20:31, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Delete.(Keep— based on TJRC's complete re-write. --Whoosit (talk) 21:38, 19 October 2009 (UTC)). The article is so poorly written might as well delete and start over again... If you feel the school merits inclusion, please be bold & re-write! --Whoosit (talk) 21:08, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. Bearing in mind the quote "Put another way: if someone wants to write an article about their high school, we should relax and [accommodate] them, even if we wish they wouldn't do it." ([1]), it's worth remembering that the context was about a "decent 2 page article"; and this one is not that. TJRC (talk) 23:01, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]- Keep; based on the quote above, and other comments in the AfD, I've changed my position from "Delete" to "Keep". In penance for my snark, I've rewritten it to overcome the quality-based objections. It still needs work, however. TJRC (talk) 20:50, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect to Miami-Dade County Public Schools#Middle schools per usual practice. The History should be kept since there is material, that if sourced, can be used to write an article on the former high school. TerriersFan (talk) 22:41, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]- Keep- my bad; I should have checked the list of Blue Ribbon Schools. Thanks DGG. TerriersFan (talk) 02:40, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Meets one of our accepted standards for middle schools: "Our international school is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence" [2]. Article of course needs rewriting. But you can;t judge whether there might be something behind an apparently iffy article without at least looking at the links it gives. DGG ( talk ) 04:45, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Since it's a blue ribbon school, that type of national recognition merits its own article. I wasn't aware of that, and I imagine that Terriers probably wasn't alerted to it either. Nice catch on that, DGG. Perhaps someone can offer assistance, in a non-condescending manner, to the middle school student who started the page. Mandsford (talk) 15:20, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Redirect per TerriersFan. A new article may be writable about the former high school, but the middle school itself is non-notable. Orderinchaos 07:32, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment; assuming the article is kept, it should be renamed to George Washington Carver Middle School (Coral Gables). —Preceding unsigned comment added by TJRC (talk • contribs) 20:56, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Blue Ribbon Schools are notable. I agree with TJRC's that this article should be renamed, but I think George Washington Carver Middle School (Florida) is a more suitable title per the naming guidelines. Cunard (talk) 21:11, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
