Chevrolet Corvette in popular culture
- Chevrolet Corvette in popular culture (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log)
A very trivial, unsourced and cluttered list of mentions isn't encyclopedic. RobJ1981 04:50, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral It could be easily kept if it was well-sourced. I just added {more references} tag. -- GarbageCollection - !Collect 05:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per list of loosely associated items. An encyclopedia is not the place to document each time a particular car was seen in a movie Corpx 06:44, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - but the list needs a big trim, might a suggest a chainsaw? Fosnez 07:04, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - for all the same reasons that similar lists for the Mini Cooper and the Citroen CS were deleted. This is a directory of loosely associated topics, a trivia dump seeking to capture any appearance of a particular make and model of car. Otto4711 12:54, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per Fosnez and also because my students told me that they find these "in popular culture" articles among the most interesting and special aspects of Wikipedia that really makes this site stand out above other encyclopedic projects. Can these articles be improved? Sure! Everything can be improved, so let's focus on improving rather than destroying. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 14:36, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- A good exercise for your students would be to have them read WP:NOT and try to formulate arguments in favor of this article that address the policy problems with this and so many other pop culture articles. These appeals to emotion and teary-eyed comments about how "special" these lists are don't answer the objections. I would also note that by saying "per Fosnez" you are offering no argument for retention because Fosnez offered no argument for retention. A bare keep comment carries no weight in an AFD discussion because AFD is not a vote. Otto4711 17:05, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll run the idea by the classroom coordination people to see what they think. Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 16:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete, violates WP:V, WP:OR, WP:RS and WP:TRIVIA, and Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles's comment violates WP:ILIKEIT. Corvus cornix 18:43, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Per reasoning of other users, is total trivia junk. Every vehicle pratically has been in "popular culture" many times. Dannycali 22:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete as yet another one of those "I see a [X] in this movie/video game/music video!" lists, which are pretty much by definition loosely linked and indiscriminate trivia. That they're interesting and whatnot is, of course, no reason to keep any articles like this. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 05:51, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per Corvus Cornix and Corpx. I'm the one that moved this stuff out of the Corvette article, where it took up a sizable fraction of the overall article. Sorry for that... I didn't realize it at the time, but now I see that I should been bold and just deleted the content altogether.—Mrand T-C 16:41, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
