I haven't come across many pure rail locations in Iowa, but this appears to be an example. The topos don't go back very far, and they do not name the spot, but they do show the now-abandoned rail line, with nothing around it. Other than that the only evidence I found showed this to be a post office, presumably located in the station. Mangoe (talk) 14:36, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

- Comment. Discord was more than a rail station, as there were two subdivisions divided into 36 plots, according to the 1884 map of Woodbury County. There's still a sign at Discord, marking the site. Firsfron of Ronchester 21:29, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
- Having checked all these things out, I'm still unconvinced. The plat map does show a lot of little plots in about the right area, but it doesn't show the rail line, and it also doesn't name the area "Discord"; when I compare it with Correctionville, for instance, there is no structure of roads or anything townlike besides the plots, and in 1884, if the town really existed, it should show up quite a bit better. The sign presents a different issue. I was finally able to locate it: it appears to stand where the north end of Wolf Creek Trail crosses 31 to become Mason Ave. This is a bit south of the location given in GNIS, and it is also on the opposite side of 31 from the railroad. All of this leads to the question: how did they know to put the sign there? And how did they know it was a settlement? The article containing the picture of the sign is no help, because its only authority is an article from the Sioux City Journal, and that article simply lists a bunch of "towns", saying for Discord, "PO started 10/14/1870 by George Everts and closed 1/17/1884" and giving the location, and nothing more. THere just isn't enough evidence here of an actual town. Mangoe (talk) 05:46, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

- Merge. I'm convinced of the community's history but not of a small subject like Discord on one article. Discord, Iowa should be mentioned under the nearest civil township's article. User:TillmanJosh (talk) 7:16, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
- Redirect or Merge to Kedron Township, Woodbury County, Iowa. The peer-reviewed paper and the historic sign establish that there was a small community here, but it was brief and is rarely even shown on maps. There isn't enough info online, at this time, to fully flesh out an article on Discord, though this may be possible in the future. One of the best references for hamlets in Iowa, Cram's Modern Atlas, fails to list Discord, even as a post office or rail station. Firsfron of Ronchester 05:07, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
