Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Greifswald may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on .

Hi LusatianMan90! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
reverts
Hi, regarding this revert [1]. First, please don't mark non-minor, potentially controversial edits as "minor" as that can be misleading (and if done purposefully it constitutes a lack of good faith). Personally, myself I almost never mark edits as minor as to my mind almost any edit is potentially controversial. It might be the case that in your preferences you have "mark edits as minor" turned on, in which case, please change that through the link at the top of the page.
As to this specific edit. Please see WP:PLACE as I indicated in the edit summary. WP:PLACE is a Wikipedia naming convention guideline. In regard to alternative names, such as Breslau, it states: "Alternatively, all alternative names can be moved to and explained in a "Names" or "Etymology" section immediately following the lead, or a special paragraph of the lead; we recommend that this be done if there are at least three alternate names, or there is something notable about the names themselves.". This article has a dedicated etymology section. Hence, putting in the alternative name in the first sentence of the lede as well is redundant and looks a lot like foreign name spamming (or as one editor uncharitably called it once "territory marking"). That is why I removed the name. The alternative name should go EITHER in the lede OR in the etymology section. If there are more than three alternative names, it goes in the section. Please do not revert again without further discussion. Thanks.

- I'm not sure I see the relevance of the Gdansk vote here. Also, I notice that you are a fairly recent editor with a very low number of edits, yet you are familiar with this by now fairly esoteric and outdated guideline. Have you used other accounts previously? If so can you disclose them? Also, let's keep the discussion in one place.Volunteer Marek (talk) 16:02, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
Dear Volunteer Marek, one just needs to click on the talk page on the page about Wrocław to be informed that the page about Wrocław is affected by the Gdańsk Vote, and one can also read the Gdańsk Vote on the talk page about Wrocław. I think that according to the Gdańsk Vote, the previous version of the article was good. LusatianMan90 (talk) 16:32, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- And one can just click on WP:PLACE I provided above to see that including the same name all over the place is redundant in addition to being a form of tendentious POV pushing. WP:PLACE is the relevant policy here. Also, can you actually answer the question rather than evading it? Volunteer Marek (talk) 21:30, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
