Inappropriate humor
While I don't disagree with this, given the specific case, I don't think we should be needling the editor in question. It's known they read that ANI thread. DMacks (talk) 06:13, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Humour, like performing one's daily ablutions (euphemism), is almost never 'inappropriate'. It's one of those rare commodities that maintain our sanity, thereby saving most of us lifelong therapy or daily visits to the pharmacy for tranquillizers. No doubt the London lady who complained that Samuel Johnson 'smelt' felt she was being needled (and, getting crotchety, thinking he was a sew-and-sew knitted her brows when he corrected her (philological embroidery) by replying:'No madam, you smell, I stink'. Since editing wikipedia may be often a form of mania (if not, in my case dementia), the anodyne of a light comic touch shouldn't deserve even a gentle upbraiding.Nishidani (talk) 12:32, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- I don't see that joke as needling an editor, just pointing out the humorous juxtaposition of a username and a policy in the section title. I hope it made the mentioned editor smile (and others). Levivich (talk) 19:26, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
