CumulusGranitis = Latin for "Clouds with rocks in the middle".
I first encountered this term back in the early 80's when I was getting my Australian Unrestricted Private Pilot's License. The Flying Instructors used it to refer to the mountainous regions and what awaited flat land pilots who ventured into the mountains on days of cloudy weather.
CumulusGranitis - The Globe Trotting Pilot & Aerial Videographer
As a historian I travel to conferences a lot. So when I started to post to Aerial Scenic Videos I shot enroute to and from these conferences on You Tube, I remembered what my instructors had called the mountainous regions and thought "That would be a great user name for a mountain area pilot".
Currently I post Cockpit Video's from my own personal flying as Pilot In Command to "cumulusgranitis" on You Tube, with Cockpit Views of Landings and Taking Offs from the various airports I have flown into around the world, as well as Aerial Scenics recorded enroute.
Thus, as a historian and a pilot, accurate data is always desired, which led to "Cumulusgranitis" becoming my Wikipedia user name.
