== Images with both "free" and "non-free" copyright tags == |
|||
If a photo is taken of a copyrighted 3D object, that photo is a "derivative work" and so it cannot be completely free content and can only be used under a claim of fair use. Frequently, the template photo of art is used to show both copyright tags, for example, in :File:'Eye Spy Eros' by Susan Budge.JPG. Unfortunately, this puts the image in :Category:All User-created public domain files and :Category:All free media, which it should not be, because it is actually a non-free image. My thought is that we should add a parameter "non-free" to the "free" copyright tags that, if this parameter is set to "yes", will cause the image to not be put in :Category:All free media or any of the other "free" categories. --B (talk) 17:25, 5 September 2018 (UTC) |

Images with both "free" and "non-free" copyright tags
If a photo is taken of a copyrighted 3D object, that photo is a "derivative work" and so it cannot be completely free content and can only be used under a claim of fair use. Frequently, the template photo of art is used to show both copyright tags, for example, in File:'Eye Spy Eros' by Susan Budge.JPG. Unfortunately, this puts the image in Category:All User-created public domain files and Category:All free media, which it should not be, because it is actually a non-free image. My thought is that we should add a parameter "non-free" to the "free" copyright tags that, if this parameter is set to "yes", will cause the image to not be put in Category:All free media or any of the other "free" categories. --B (talk) 17:25, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
