Both of her attempts at a relationship have ended in infidelity, and she was scammed by a woman who was offering to give her an exorcism. She gets a DUI and is taken under the wing of Maryann Forrester, though it is later revealed that Maryann and Daphne were the cause of her DUI, and Maryann is manipulating Tara so that she can control the people of Bon Temps. While at Maryann's she meets "Eggs" Benedict Talley, and they gradually begin a relationship. WHen Sookie leaves for Dallas she moves in to Sookie's house, with Eggs and Maryann.

After losing Amy, he turned himself in for the murders, and while in jail was recruited by the anti-vampire church the "Fellowship of the Sun". He feels he has found a purpose with the church; asking for a "sign" of what God wants him to do, he believes that sign comes when Sookie refuses his uncle Bartlett's inheritance money, giving it all to Jason. He then attends a leadership conference with the Newlins, leaders of the "Fellowship of the Sun" church.

While the fake exorcism appeared to have the desired effect, it has become clear that she can be just as cruel sober. When Miss Jeanette gets her heart ripped out, Lettie Mae is called to the police station for questioning and then finds out from Tara that the exorcism is fake but doesn't believe it. When she meets Maryann, she gets told off for all the things she's done to Tara. On Tara's birthday, Lettie Mae asks Sam to deliver a present to her, which Maryann secretly discards.

Bill Compton is a vampire with whom Sookie falls in love. Turned during the civil war against his will, Bill shows a remarkable, and unusual, compassion for human life. Longshadow is the bartender at Fangtasia. He was stealing money from Fangtasia, and glamored a waitress named Ginger when she discovered what he was up to. After their accountant discovers the missing money, Sookie identifies that the culprit is a vampire and is attacked by Longshadow. Bill stakes him in order to save Sookie's life.

Miss Jeanette (aka) Nancy LeGuare is a drugstore clerk who performs exorcisms on the side. Her body was discovered at the end of the last episode of season one in Andy Bellfleur's car. In the first episode of season two it is revealed her heart has been cut out and in a later episode it can be seen that Maryann served her heart to her party guest. In the fourth episode of the second season it is revealed that she had scratches on her back similar to Sookie's which are from Maryann who is revealed to be the creature who attacked Sookie.

Royce Alan Williams is a Bon Temps local who burns down the house in which Diane, Malcolm, and Liam are living (along with Neil Jones). He is captured by Eric Northman for killing the three vampires. He confesses to Lafayette that he's been a screw-up most of his life, including a sexual adventure with one of his cousin's girlfriends and a homosexual encounter in camp. During an escape attempt, he is killed by Eric.

Daphne is a new waitress at Merlotte's and love interest for Sam. Prior to getting hired at Merlotte's, she claims to have some experience working at the Cracker Barrel in Alexandria, Louisiana, though despite an obvious effort she has proven consistently inept in her duties at the bar. She is revealed to have strange claw marks on her back. She reveals herself to be a shape-shifter to Sam at Tara's birthday party - she shifts into a fawn and a pig. We also learn that Daphne has been working in league with Maryann, knowing fully about her evil plots. She is later murdered by Eggs, at Maryann's behest.
