Taleju Bhawani, est une forme de la déesse hindoue Durga, elle vient de l'Inde du sud (Tulajapur Karnataka), elle était la divinité tutélaire des rois Malla.
L'entrée du temple de Taleju Bhawani est dans la cour principale et la plus ancienne du Palais : le Mul Chowk. Le temple a été construit en 1533. Son tympan est finement sculpté avec la divinité en son centre.
Ce temple sacré est interdit aux européens, une paroi transparente bricolée a été placée à l'entrée.
