English: Pictures from two Lakota winter counts, 1843-1844. A Sacred Arrow of the Cheyennes was returned by the Lakotas. The Pawnee had captured all four arrows years before. The Lakotas found one during an attack on a Pawnee village in 1843. The zigzag lines from or around the arrow designate it is a sacred object
