Summary
Description |
A panoramic view of the House of the Spark (Casa Scânteii), a large typographical plant in Bucharest. The panorama has been made by combining two photos taken with F = 5 (28) mm, aperture F / 3.1, exposure 1/2000 s, ISO 100. The 85° horizontal angle of view corresponds with F = 3.6 (20) mm. The distance to the central body is of about 200 m, the distance between the lateral towers is 260 m. The Spark (Scânteia) was a Communist daily, the press organ of the Romanian Communist Party. The House of the Spark, renamed House of the Free Press after the fall of the Communist regime, was built between 1950 and 1956, using a strongly Soviet-influenced design by Horia Maicu, a famous Communist architect (author, among others, of the Monument of the Heroes of Socialism, a.k.a. the Mausoleum of the Communist Heroes). The building work was led by prof. dr. Panaite Mazilu. |
