DescriptionHeterotetramer of DNMTs 3A2 and 3B3 and its interactions with nucleosome and linker DNA.jpg
English: The DNA methylating enzyme DNMT3A2, transcribed from an alternate promoter of DNMT3A1, can be active in vivo when complexed with the accessory protein DNMT3B3 in a heterotetramer structure shown here. As shown, the proximal 3B3 accessory protein interacts with a histone in the nucleosome and positions the 3A3 catalytic region of the distal 3A3 enzyme to methylate CpG sites in the adjacent linker DNA.
